寫英文求職信,最重要的是你要熟悉求職信和英國人或者美國人的寫信思路,不要將中文版的翻譯成英語,那樣會讓人覺得你的英語還不怎麼地道,從而失去競爭力。那麼,怎樣的英文求職信會緊緊抓住面試官的眼球呢?這裡面是有很多學問的,一共有七點。
第一,有的放矢。不要把英文求職信寫成一種能到處撒網的求職信,然後大量復制,到處投遞。這種不管三七二十一的狂轟濫炸,很少能擊中目標。有效的求職信都具有很強的針對性,或針對公司的某一具體職位
第二,設置兩個左右的興趣點。用英語寫出你自己關鍵的經歷、最好的成績、重要的特長以及自己的願望、心情和信心等。表明你所特有的教育、技能、個性特徵和將會為招聘單位做出的特殊貢獻等。
第三,特長詞句加黑加粗。在英文求職信的格式上,對需要特別強調的詞語用另外一種字體打出。例如,「主要特長」用加黑、加粗的字體顯示,便於瀏覽。對特別的段落,採取兩端各縮進兩字的方法處理,更能吸引招聘者的目光。
第四,加個小故事或者事例。在每個人的成長過程中總有一些特別的經歷,對自己的人生道路和人生的看法發生重要的影響,會改變一個人對於機會、金錢和世界觀的看法。尤其是把重大的挫折、人生的轉變或者一個悲劇寫到求職信中,這樣的事例更能反映出自信、有責任感、不輕言放棄等人皆推崇的品質。
第五,逆向思維,勝人一籌。英文求職應聘不附和、不隨俗、不從眾,是有主見的表現。有一位同學這樣寫道:「其實我並不覺得貴公司條件有多好,只是感覺比較適合我的專業。而且覺得最後能不能入選,關鍵在於實力而不在於運氣。」這種寫法往往能使招聘者眼前一亮,起到好的效果。
第六,適當地自負一些。「我雖剛剛畢業,但我年輕,有朝氣,有能力完成任何工作。盡管我還缺乏一定的經驗,但我會用時間和汗水去彌補。請領導放心,我一定會保質保量完成各項工作任務。」口氣堅決,信心十足,給人以精力旺盛,「初生牛犢不怕虎」的感覺。
第七,在語言風格上要平實、簡潔,切忌用誇張。比喻的手法引起誤解,而要給招聘者留下誠懇,務實的印象。招聘者也沒有時間閱讀過長的信件,所以整篇書信要簡短,能控制在一頁16開紙上為最好。在句子結構上要多用長句.長句善於表達復雜事物,一方面有利於准確表達求職者的意圖,容易給招聘者留下思維條理清晰,邏輯性強的印象;另一方面,將大量信息融合到一個句子中,很容易抓住招聘者的注意力,迫使其一口氣讀完,從而留下深刻印象。
