消息稱，「這股熱潮由來已久，不僅普通大眾有很多抱怨，也有專業人士對其進行了批評和質疑。不久前，教育部前發言人王旭明通過微博呼籲取消小學英語課，這使得英語教育再次成為公眾關注的話題。其實這樣的疑惑一直沒有平息。20xx年全國人大期間，畢業於北京大學英語專業的全國政協委員余在接受記者采訪時明確表示，「中國人從幼兒園就開始學英語，評價職稱還要考英語，這是很荒唐的」。中國教育協會會長顧明遠大聲疾呼：「普通高考應該減少考試次數，可以把重點放在數學和語文上。「對於有外語要求的專業」，外語可以參考全國等級考試成績，不需要納入高考。".
江蘇省這次高考改革方案如果順利實施，無疑會實現業內人士的想法。雖然只是可行性分析，「江蘇高考改革英語成績只按成績算，不打分」的消息還是讓無數網友歡欣鼓舞。有人嘲諷「英語成了副科」，也有過高考橋段的網友哀嘆「等不及幾年後出生」。在網路上，90%以上的網民完全贊成取消高考，75%的網民選擇學習英語而不是參加考試。「言過其實」曾經是三大主題。當英語即將告別高考舞台的消息傳出時，社會上一片歡呼，很少有人表示懷念。這種大眾心態無疑比取消英語考試本身更值得思考。
首先，任何語言都是通過學習語言來滿足人們交流需求的工具。但在傳統的應試教育模式下，英語的交際屬性大大降低，充其量只是深造和就業的「敲門磚」。應試英語教學背離了英語教育的初衷。當地很多學校為了讓學生拿高分，實行「啞巴英語」和「聾子英語」。即使學生能在紙上得高分，也沒有實際的溝通能力。更重要的是，雖然學生在英語學習上花費了大量的時間和精力，但大多數人在實際工作中很少使用英語，甚至在離開學校後不久就把英語還給老師。當英語教學成為應試教育的敲門磚時，應該進行相應的改革。從高考源頭入手無疑是一個可行的策略。
事實上，江蘇高考新政並沒有完全取消英語考試，而是將「終身一考」調整為考生一年可以參加兩次英語高考，選擇分數最高的一次作為高考分數。同時，英語考試只計算成績，不打分。很明顯，一年兩考，會大大緩解「一考終身」的壓力，英語考試也體現了一種素質教育的思維。英語不是不再需要了，只是一種新的考試形式。如果考生有興趣，有需要，可以在高考前「過級」，不會給高考帶來壓力。沒有了考試和升學的壓力，「平易近人」的英語可能更容易引起學生對交際的興趣，從而使英語教育回歸初衷。
和任何新事物一樣，江蘇省高考新政策還是需要補充和完善的。其中最有意思的是誰來組織英語考試，計算成績，什麼樣的程序設計才能保證這個新政策的公平公正。此外，人們仍然懷疑英語考試改革本身是為了減輕學生的應試壓力。然而，在這樣的背景下

Besides, I was unable to use some words or idioms correctly. I felt very sorry about it. I sat in the classroom in low spirits.
Knowing about it,my English teacher asked me to go to his of-fice and told me not to be so disappointed. He also told me to listen to the teacher attentively in class,to make notes while listening and to do more reading and writing,and that only in this way could I learn Eng-lish well.
