哈利波特創作背景：
根據作者J·K·羅琳的介紹，這個故事的靈感是1991年她在從曼徹斯特到倫敦的火車上萌發出的。她當時經常在愛迪安堡的一家咖啡館中撰寫第一集小說。
盡管J·K·羅琳一再說明，在開始寫哈利·波特系列小說時沒有針對特定年齡層讀者的想法，但是出版社在出版第一部的時候，顯然把讀者群定位在9到15歲的青少年。
1989年，24歲的羅琳有了創作哈利·波特的念頭。1997年6月，推出哈利·波特系列第一本《哈利·波特與魔法石》。隨後，羅琳又分別於1998年與1999年創作了《哈利·波特與密室》和《哈利·波特與阿茲卡班的囚徒》。2001年，美國華納兄弟電影公司決定將小說的第一部《哈利·波特與魔法石》搬上銀幕。
