Ladies and Gentlemen , Good afternoon! I』 very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is 「Life」. I hope you will like it ,
Man』s life is a process of growing up, actually I』m standing here is a growth. If a person』s life must constituted by various choices, then I grow up along with these choices. Once I hope I can study in a college in future, however that』s passed, as you know I come here, now I wonder what the future holds for (= what will happen to) me.
When I come to this school, I told to myself: this my near future, all starts here. Following I will learn to become a man, a integrated man, who has a fine body, can take on important task, has independent thought, an open mind, intensive thought, has the ability to judge right and wrong, has a perfect job.
Once my teacher said :」 you are not sewing, you are stylist; never forget which you should lay out to people is your thought, not craft.」 I will put my personality with my interest and ability into my study, ring these process I will combine learning with doing. If I can achieve this 「future」, I think that I really grow up. And I deeply believe kindred, good-fellowship and love will perfection and happy in the future.
How to say future? Maybe it』s a nice wish. Lets make up our minds, stick to it and surely well enjoy our life.

The harvest of growth
After attending the class of Ecation Philosophy this semester, I feel that we really have learned a lot and many changes have taken place on us. Specifically, I, my team and my class have grown a lot.
There are three layers of learning, that is, knowledge, ability and attitude. By the end of the class, my knowledge and understanding about ecation have deepened and expanded. My abilities including critical thinking ability, public speaking skills and social capability have enhanced a lot. My attitude has become more positive and I am more confident and willing to take challenges. The knowledge about ecation is very useful for my future career to become an English teacher. My abilities benefit me beyond my profession. Those abilities can help improve my life-long learning in all fields and facilitate my interaction with other people when entering the society. My attitude can have a positive long-lasting impact on my whole life. With more positive attitude, I can overcome more difficulties, seize more opportunities and even ultimately better my life.
What is more important than what I have learned is the way of learning. In this class, Mr. Yang advocates and adopts a way of learning, that is, active participation, immediate reflection and practice in life. I think this is a very good way of learning and I should implement it. However, before the class, this is what I lack in my learning. Only by active participation, can I have real experience and have my own feelings and understandings about things. Through immediate reflection, I can get to understand the true nature of things. By actual practicing what I have learned in life, I can not only verify them, but also better my life. This process of learning can surely lead to my cumulative growth efficiently.
What is more profound is my understanding about the nature of learning and teaching. In other classes, I have little thought about this question and just take what the teacher says for granted. In this class, I have come to understand that learning is an active process of reconstructing and reflection rather than a passive process of taking knowledge for granted and memorizing them. Teaching is creating an environment favorable for learning rather than directly passing down the knowledge itself.
I do not grow solely by myself; I grow together with my team. I am really impressed by the growth of my team. We three members made up the group 2 in the class. So we made our first presentation at the early phase of my class and have an opportunity to do a second one by the end of the class. We can really feel our progress by contrasting our two presentations and our discussions, and are all gratitude to find that after our painstaking effort, we have the ability to do it so successfully.
At first, we did not know each other at all before the class, so our interaction was rather limited. Graally, we began to establish friendly relationships among us and our cooperation was thus facilitated to a large extent. In this process, our social abilities are naturally enhanced.
In other classes, we also have group work. More often than not, the group members divide the work into several parts, each member is responsible for his own part and at last all members』 works are mechanically combined together. In this case, the cooperative learning is reced to independent learning since there is no real communication and connection among its members. This was the same in our group at first. In preparing our first presentation, we each put forward a point of view and then connected the three points, thus the PPT was made. As to our first group discussion, we did not conct it successfully either. Then through teacher』s guidance and other groups』 good examples, we began to aware our problems and take actions to solve them. We learned that one can put forward a question based on some common knowledge to begin a discussion, and then members should understand the topic or question, locate it in the right framework, and respond by understanding it in a deep and comprehensive way, instead of merely expressing their own ideas separately. Graally, our discussions on QQ were greatly improved. We can develop a point deeply and comprehensively together, give specific examples, inspire each other and have more ideas to say than before. In our second presentation, we did a good concept map together. This time we have real communication and probe the problem into depth with each one』s contribution and understanding of each other.
The growth of myself and my team can not be possible without the class. The class creates a favorable environment for all students』 growth.
The class highly advocates learner-centeredness. It is the students rather than the teacher that dominates the class. Mr. Yang just gives us brief directions and leaves most time for our talking, discussion and reflection. What』s more, Mr. Yang provides equal opportunities for each student. He requires everyone on the platform to have real experience and remember everyone』s name. Mr. Yang also respects students. He lets us understand the text first and then gives direction based on our understanding. He listens to every student』s opinion carefully and never denies our opinions directly. It does not deny the fact Mr. Yang is very strict with us because it is the exact expression of the essence of learner-centeredness.
Cooperation and interaction is strongly emphasized in the class. From the very first class, Mr. Yang organizes heterogeneous groups and every group should not only give presentation together but also have discussions on QQ after each class. In the class, by taking advantages of E-learning network, Mr. Yang organizes various activities, such as pair-work, whole class discussion on the forum and in-class discussion on a certain topic. After class, Mr. Yang also shares our good reflection articles in his blog. All these cooperation and interaction ensure us go beyond the trap of ourselves and broaden our horizons. However, the cooperation and interaction not only consists in students themselves but also in student and teacher. Mr. Yang gives us many kinds of orders in class but at the end of the class, he allows us to ask him freely and gives us explanation. So we can understand more about Mr. Yang』s class arrangements and his ecational philosophy behind them.
In the class, Mr. Yang particularly emphasizes reflection and provides a lot of activities to train our critical thinking abilities. One method is concept mapping. In order to draw a concept map, we should not only understand the surface meaning of the text, but also find the internal, logic relationships among various important concepts and processes. Therefore, we can have a deep and comprehensive understanding about ecational theories both at a macroscopic and microscopic level. Another method is giving specific examples to illustrate those ecational theories. Those theories do not have vitality until specific examples are added to. By giving specific examples, we can not only understand the theories more fully but also can verify or even modify them. The third method is reflection. Mr. Yang asks us to write our personal and group reflection regularly and also type whatever comes into our mind in the forum. It can be seen that reflection is everywhere is our class.
Among three layers of learning, Mr. Yang does not attach special importance to knowledge as most teachers usually do, but focus on our development of ability and attitude. There are no the so called good or bad students decided by the grasp of knowledge in his class. Those students who develop their abilities and form positive attitude are good students. It is ability and attitude that really matters in our future life.
Thanks to all the above class arrangements designed by Mr. Yang, it can be seen that our performances are getting better and better and it is surely that every student has made great progress. In the last class, I can feel there is full of harmony and happiness atmosphere among students and between students and the teacher, and we all want to have more classes for our further growth. The class of Ecation Philosophy must be a bright star in our postgraate life.
The above are my current reflection of myself, my team and my class. It may not be thorough and complete because some subtle changes and profound intentions of Mr. Yang may fail in me, however I will not stop thinking and practicing the ideas that I have gained from this class. I hope some years later, I can still recall the class vividly and grasp the true meaning or even add new insights to it.
Though the class of Ecation Philosophy ends at this semester, it does not mean the class has no more connections with us. Actually its influence is long lasting and can be beneficial for our whole life. I think this is the true meaning where a successful class lies.
