第二、辨析文章結構，找到「經典模塊」——如現象解釋，如開門見山，如觀點對立，等待——套用模塊固定思路按部就班、順藤摸瓜逐個擊破。這種方法的好處是在針對結構清晰命題思路相對穩定的考題時能夠把題目按既有模塊對號入座，一一還原到文章各段之中。但實際演練起來卻容易出現這么幾種情況：要麼動起筆來大腦一片空白，所謂結構模塊早已拋擲九霄雲外；要麼搜腸刮肚，卻苦於無法將手頭的文章套入模版，所謂「按部就班」、「順藤摸瓜」到頭來卻變成一籌莫展。閱讀不同於寫作，每一篇文章可能涵蓋了2個甚至3個結構模塊，而經典模塊屬於大腦抽象思維高度概括的產物——和韋伯所說的「理想模型」頗有幾分類似——這句話的潛台詞是「模型」原封不動地出現在社會現實(考試)中的可能性逼近於零。無怪乎大量考生抱怨，這套方法等看到答案聽完老師講解總算是後知後覺了。
綜上所述，兩套傳統解題方式都只是部分揭示命題規律，很容易陷入命題者故布疑雲的「羅生門」。另外，只糾纏細節或只從大處著手也不符合一般人的閱讀習慣和認知規律，會導致大腦下意識地抵觸，遑論進行主動有效的閱讀呢。但如果我們能夠打破兩條思路之間的藩籬，按照一般閱讀習慣將其有機地整合在一起就能夠開辟出第三條道路，從文本再建構的角度切入閱讀。
按照結構主義語言學的看法，文章所提供的是文本(text)，解題者所作的工作大致就是按照題目要求找到其中的樣本，進行闡釋。由此可見，文章閱讀的第一個層次或曰第一個步驟——也是在拿到一篇新文章時最符合人類認知習慣的就是在接觸文本信息時有意識地對其篩選、過濾，剪除冗餘信息提取有效的新信息。閱讀考試意在檢查學生對超出其既有知識儲備的文本新信息的接受能力。這里的接受不僅僅只是一個被動的了解，而是一個積極主動的對信息整理、加工、歸納和品評的過程。細心的同學也許會發現，這里所謂的了解和整理所對應的是大量的細節題，歸納所針對的是主旨題，加工往往是推理題型，而品評則是推測作者的言外之意，甚或要求進行讀者進行批判性閱讀(critique reading)——對這種能力的考察四、六級相對要少些，但它卻是考研英語閱讀中命題者屢試不爽的法寶。在這幾項能力當中，了解和整理是基礎，正確地加工、歸納還有品評都建諸在前二者之上。了解、整理、加工、歸納和品評統稱為對文本的解構。這些是主動型閱讀中的心理過程。閱讀理解考試區別於積極型閱讀的特殊之處在於還要根據命題者要求選擇答案——這就是對文本的二度建構或曰再建構。明白了這一點我們便可以在閱讀過程中做到 突破，切中肯綮，進而揣摩作者的原筆原意，從而杜絕那種對文本信息漫無邊際、浮光掠影式的無效掃描。
我們不妨算一筆帳。閱讀文章的字數往往在320左右。而題目永遠只能有5個，每一題的答案往往是針對一到兩個句子，加起來也就是100個字左右。這100個字，大約30%左右的信息量就是有效的新信息，也就是我們要了解和整理的信息。能夠做到順利地篩選出這部分新信息並主動接受也就邁出了堅實的第一步。那麼哪些信息能夠算作是有效信息呢？這類信息的出現其實quo;。由於篇幅限制我們僅舉出三類：轉折、因果和比較。舉個例子，06年12月份的第一篇文章在首段大量出現轉折詞，這些轉折所在的部分就是我們建構答案的主要信息區間。這里就完成了第一步了解的工作。通過進一步的分析我們發現，首段末句的轉折在文本意義上的層次明顯高於其他各句。其原因就在與之前的轉折是具體例證，還停留在事實闡述的層面上；而末句的轉折超越了單純的事實闡述進入到理論抽象階段。從篇章語言學(text linguistics)的角度上來講，稱之為「具體-概括模式」；或者用最通俗易懂的話來講，就是分-總結構。上述這個過程也就是信息整理的進程(其中業已涵蓋了部分的歸納)。整理和歸納的結果是我們必須從末句出發，按照題目要求重新建構文本。其實這個重新構建文本的進程已經由命題者代為完成——選項中最符合原筆願意的即是在對原文解構基礎之上而重新建構的文本。解題者 之後的信息與選項的文本進行邏輯關系的比較，選出最為接近者。(如何做邏輯關系的比較超出了本文范圍，需要另外撰文分析。但同學們要記住最常見的重構文本的方法無外乎抽象概括、等價替換、語序倒置、角度轉換這些。)希望同學們能夠在平常的訓練中對照此法，慎思之，明辨之，篤行之，從而真正提高閱讀能力。
