提綱式作文是歷年四、六級考試中最常見的題型。從1995年1月到1999年1月9次四級考試的作文題型都是這種形式。它滑纖明要求考生根據給出的題目和提綱，確定文章的中心思想，然後緊緊圍繞中心思想展開論述，表達提綱的主旨。它的優點是提綱既體現了文章的層次，又規定了各段大體的內容，為考生提供了一條思路，稍加思索、計劃、整理就可成文。但缺點是如果審題不當，反而容易丟分。另外，它的限定性較大，不理解提綱所展現的內容或詞彙，就會感到難以下筆。

一、寫作步驟和技巧：
1寫好提綱式作文的關鍵是認真審題和分析所給的提綱，認清題目和提綱之間的關系，然後確定文章的主題、內容以及文體。
2每一個提綱可以作為文章的一個段落層次，段落的展開圍繞提綱的中心和內容，不能偏離，也不能任意增減。
3提綱只是對文章的提示和概括，不是主題句。這需要根據提綱的性質，寫出完整的、體現提綱主旨的句子，使之成為主題句。然後圍繞主題句進行擴展。
