華北電力大學外語國語學院英語系現有教職工73人、教師66人、其中教授6人、副教授16人、講師39人。中青年教師中具有碩士學位或曾留學英、美、加、俄、日、澳、新等國的50餘人；英語系承擔著英語專業、全校大學英語、成人教育英語、函授英語、博士和碩士研究生英語、日語、法語、俄語等課程的教學任務。

North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) is affiliated with the Ministry of Ecation, officially listed as one of the 「211 Project」 and 「985 Project」 universities as well as a 「Predominant Discipline Innovation Platform」 . At present, NCEPU is a key university jointly constructed by the Ministry of Ecation and the University Council, which is composed of State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., China Huaneng Group, China Datang Corporation, China Huadian Corporation, China Guodian Corporation and China Power Investment Corporation. NCEPU is composed of two respective campuses in Beijing and in Baoding, with its main campus in Beijing.
North China Electric Power University (NCEPU), is founded in 1958, firstly named Beijing Electric Power Institute, then after relocated to Hebei ring the 「great proletarian cultural revolution」, it changed its name to Hebei Electric Power Institute and North China Electric Power Institute. In 1995, it merged with Beijing Institute of Economic Momentum, and founded the North China Electric Power University. The school spirit 「Perseverance, Solidarity, Devotion, Eminence」 formed ring NCEPU』s development, has been playing a key role in achieving the prosperity of NCEPU.
The campus covers a building area of over 1 million square meters. The university library covers a collection of nearly 2 million books. Being open to students from all over China, the university has, at present, more than 27,000 full-time students, including more than 6,800 post-graates. For many years, NCEPU has enjoyed the graates』 employment rate of over 96%.
NCEPU possesses a high-quality teaching staff with a total number of 1,760 professional teachers, including 347 professors, 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 2 「Cheung Kong Scholars」, 4 chief scientists of 「973」 Program, 3 winners of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Youth, 7 candidates of the National Project of 「Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand」 Professionals, 21 candidates of the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University, and 3 groups get into the 「Changjiang Scholar and innovation group developing program」. NCEPU maintains 62 bachelor』s programs, 52 master』s programs, 20 Ph.D. programs, 4 mobile stations of post-doctoral scientific research, 2 key disciplines at the national level, 18 key disciplines at the provincial and ministerial level, 1 state key laboratory, 2 key laboratories at the Ministry of Ecation level, 6 key laboratories at the provincial and ministerial level and some professional degree programs including Master』s Program of Business Administration and Master』s Program of Applied Engineering.
Since the 「Tenth Five-year Plan,」 NCEPU has undertaken 542 scientific projects at the national level from National Natural Science Fund, 「863」 Program and 「973」 Program. And 60 of these projects have won the Awards for Scientific and Technological Progress at the national, provincial and ministerial levels. In 2007, the scientific funds reached 240 million yuan. In addition, the Science Park of NCEPU is designated as one of the National-level College Science Parks in China.
NCEPU zealously promotes diverse international exchanges and cooperation such as EMBA, 1+1 baccalaureate degree joint-ecation programs and continuous joint-ecation programs from bachelor to master degrees, NCEPU has established cooperative ties with more than 60 distinguished universities and scientific institutions in Europe, North America and other parts of the world.
Through a long-term ecational exploration, NCEPU has graally formed its own striking features.
Along with a series of distinctive and dominant disciplines, the academic discipline system to serve the power instry is firmly established. Facing the development of renewable energy in the world and focusing on new energy research in nuclear power, wind power, hydropower, solar and other subjects, NCEPU sets up the first national 「renewable energy college」, and then be dedicated to setting up a new discipline system of 「Extensive Power Concept」 in order to improve the service for power instry, based on dominant disciplines and supported by the disciplines of liberal arts and sciences.

As the cradle of senior electrical talents in China, NCEPU has fostered many outstanding graates, some of whom have become the academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, senior technical and managerial talents in the power instry.
To create an innovative platform by combining teaching and research with proction, the school takes the initiative to meet national needs of energy power technology development, and fully supports the University Council, furthers and innovates school-enterprise cooperation models and ways, so as to actively integrate into the 「enterprises subjected, market-oriented, proction, study and research integrated」 national innovation system.
