要学好写英语短文，就必须经常练习写作。记日记是提高书面表达能力的有效方法之一。日记是每日生活的记载，是一种记事文体。
一、日记的格式

英语日记，日期栏的月份与星期，因为经常重覆的关系，常以缩与代替，如January 1st, Sunday 就可写成Jan. 1 , Sun. 或Sun., Jan. 1 。 后面加上气候奖况，如Cloudy（阴）、rainy（雨） 、windy（风）、cool（凉爽）等等。
