⑥ 为什么当初前辈做英文翻译的时候 把 function 翻译 成 函数
把 function 译成 "函数" 的人是谁，恐怕无从稽考。不过，西风东渐的初期，由於日本西化得比中国早和彻底，所以，当时有很多中文译名都参考了日本的译法。所以我猜测，把 function 一词译成 "函数"，可能也是来自日本。
不过，无论是日本人还是中国人，在翻译一个名词时，应该不会胡乱找一两个字敷衍过去便算，总应该有某些根据才对。我个人猜度，function在数学上是表达几个变数之间相互关系的公式，所以有“一个或几个变数的值蕴函了其他变数的值”的意思，因此用“函数”一词来表达 function 的性质。这是完全、纯粹、百分百的个人胡乱㺓度，仅供各位一笑。
