钼的应用概况

钼具有良好的导电性和耐高温性，热膨胀系数与玻璃相近，被广泛用于制造螺旋灯丝的芯线、引出线及挂钩等部件。此外，钼丝也是理想的电火花线切割机床用电极丝，能切割各种钢材和硬质合金，其放电加工稳定，能有效提高模具精度。
单层的辉钼材料具有良好的半导体特性，有些性能超过现在广泛使用的硅和石墨烯，很有可能成为下一代半导体材料。美国加州纳米技术研究院已经成功使用MoS2制造出了辉钼基柔性微处理芯片，这个微芯片只有同等硅基芯片的20%大小，功耗极低，而辉钼制成的晶体管在待机情况下的功耗为硅晶体管的十万分之一，而且比同等尺寸的石墨烯电路更加廉价，其电路也有很强的柔性，极薄，可以附着在人体皮肤之上。
医学领域
钼是人体必需的微量元素之一，也是多种酶的组成部分，在机体的主要功能是参与硫、铁、铜之间的相互反应。适量的钼能够促进人体发育，增强氧在体内的储留下，抑制肿瘤，维护心肌的能量代谢，保护心肌，而钼的缺乏会导致龋齿、肾结石、克山病、大骨节病、食道癌等疾病，因而钼也被用于医药中，如钼酸铵这种药就主要用于长期依赖静脉高营养的患者。
畜牧领域

农业领域
钼为植物体内必须的“微量元素”之一，缺钼会影响植物正常生长。作为植物生长所必须的微量元素，钼不仅能促进植物对磷的吸收，还能加速植物体内醇类的形成与转化，提高植物叶绿素和维生素丙的含量，提高植物的抗旱、抗寒以及抗病能力。鉴于钼对植物的重要性，很多国家已经开始生产和使用含钼的微量肥料
