二、课外阅读有助于在读中积累语言。
所谓“书到用时方恨少”，这“少”字的含义有二：一是读的少，二是记住的少。 所以说话、作文时便没词儿了。如果让学生多读点，多积累些，天长日久，待到自己说话 作文时便能呼之即出，信手拈来，随心所欲，左右逢源。“熟读唐诗三百首，不会作诗 也会吟”说的就是这个道理。可现今学生课外阅读大多已徒有其名了，他们整天被练习压得抬不起头来，很少有学生光顾阅览室，报廊、报架也形同虚设。这样的现实，极大地限制了学生的语言积累。许多文字上有造诣的作家、学者总结自己成长经历时，总少不了青少年时期博览群书，即便是班级上语文成绩较好的同学也常常是对课外书刊情有独钟。因为，只有“博览”，才能给大脑皮层形成多侧面的语言刺激，而且，在阅读过程中，能再次强化大脑皮层已有的语言信息，使大脑中业已形成的联系系统更为完整、严密。这就要求语文教师精心指导，比如介绍课外读物，指导课外阅读笔记的记法，组织课外阅读交流比赛等等。
三、课外阅读有助于理解和运用祖国语文。
不少家长甚至部分老师都存在着一个认识上的误区，总觉得学生看课外书是看"闲书"。他们恨不得孩子每分每秒都在听写、背诵、写作文……似乎只有这样，才能提高学生的语文学习水平。这种想法，其实还是应试教育衍生出的怪胎。试想，学生每天用半小时时间抄3遍字词，以确保听写不错一个字和让他们每天用10分钟有的放矢地练习难字，还是用20分钟读课外书，哪个更好呢？

people often say that gold and silver are the most valuable things in the world. but i don't think so. in my opinion, to read books is more valuable than anything else.the old saying“to open a book is always helpful” clearly shows us how good it is to read a book.
are our friends. they introce us different kinds of knowledge.they lead us down the road to success.books are our teachers. they teach us truth, science, literature, and philosophy of life, besides they increase our knowledge, enlarge our experience, strengthen our character and do many other things which we can not do without them.we have to learn as long as we live. but our life is limited, and the knowledge is boundless. there are many things which are very necessary to learn and there are also many which should be avoided. books tell us what is good and what is evil. and only books can tell the good from the bad.
therefore to read more books is the best policy for our young students。
