一、营造氛围，激发创新意识
创新思维，要突出一个“新”字。学生都是有情感的，这种情感直接影响到他们的学习兴趣和学习效果。只有积极、肯定的情感体验才能激发他们的积极性和创造性，创新教育才能得以实现。课堂上，为了营造一种新的学习氛围，更为了便于学生交流和小组合作学习，上英语课的时候我经常变换桌椅的摆放方式，比如四个桌子并在一起，成“餐桌”状或者“移动性”的座位。这样，英语中的一些对话、游戏等以这种方式能让学生很容易地围在一起用英语交流，好像品尝文化大餐一样，给学生创造了一种轻松、愉快、活泼的学习氛围。在这种氛围下，有些性格内向、胆小的学生在小组长以及其他成员的带动下都敢大胆地说英语，敢于用所学内容来交流。托尔斯泰说过：“成功的教学所需的不是强制，而是激发学生的兴趣。”这种异样的课堂氛围，不仅让学生获得了感性认识，而且让他们在玩乐中不知不觉地学到了英语知识，在品尝成果中获得了自信，能激发起更大的学习热情，自然习得语言。
二、勇于质疑，勤于质疑，善于质疑
疑是思维的开端，是创造的基础，勇于质疑、勤于质疑、善于质疑是一种良好的思维习惯。因此，在英语教学中我们要利用一切可以利用的方式，启发学生开阔思路、多思善想、质疑问难。
1.启发学生发现问题。新课标教材内容丰富多样，信息量大，融入了一些讲英语国家的文化习俗。在平时教学中，要经常引导学生观察语言材料的异同，然后鼓励学生自己提出问题、解决问题。如“How
many…”、“How much…”，我启发学生提出了这样的问题：“What's the difference between‘How
many’and‘How much’？”要善于观察、发现，这样一比较，他们会清楚地明白两者的区别，也更容易习得知识。
2.引导学生多角度思考。我国传统教学往往注重发展学生的求同思维,而忽略了学生求异思维的训练,无形之中使学生形成了一个固定的思维模式,严重影响了学生的观察力、好奇心、想象力和主动性的培养。因此，老师应引导学生多角度地思考问题。如：PEP六年级(上) 第四模块中列述了西方感恩节中的风俗及活动，可以因势利导，让学生多角度地展开思考，各抒己见，谈谈在我们生活中各种传统节日的风俗及活动。
3.“学起于思，思源于疑”。不断发现问题、提出问题是学生思维活跃的表现，也是学生勤于动脑、善于思考的表现。因此，在培养学生质疑能力的同时更应保护学生质疑的欲望，让学生树立质疑的信心。作为老师应努力创设一种宽松、民主、平等、融洽的学习氛围，鼓励学生多提问，让学生知道能大胆质疑是认真学习的表现。在课外，要鼓励学生大胆提问，并把能否找出问题当作检查学生是否对新课进行预习的标准。对学生在课外预习中所提出的语音、词汇等方面的问题，应先由学生在小组讨论中互相解答，对解答不了的问题由小组长写在纸条上，在课堂上进行集中解答。这样，学生在“质疑——释疑——再质疑”的过程中学会了质疑的方法，提高了质疑的能力。
三、妙用课堂“留白”，构建创新思维平台
对于课堂教学而言， 精心设置的悬念是催发学生思维的有效手段，学生凝神屏息、反复推敲的过程即是“留白”的过程。“留白”的策略可以在教学的各环节中运用。
1.导入新课时“留白”能激起学生强烈的求知欲。上课伊始，我们可以依据教材内容，抓住学生的好奇心，通过精心设计，巧妙“留白”，促使学生积极主动地参与学习，从而拉开学习序幕。如：教师在教四年级下册的“potato”这个单词时，可以先在黑板上画个半圆，让学生猜猜是什么单词，也许他们会说“orange”、“apple”、“egg”、“sun”等。这种方式既能复习到以前学过的知识，更重要的它极大地调动了学生学习的积极性和主动性，这个单词给他们留下了深刻的印象，记起来也容易些。这样老师不直接参与讨论，而是让学生充分发挥自己的想象，
能引起学生共鸣，在学生思维上形成悬念，有利于借助他们的兴趣和思维切入正题。
2.提问后留白能培养学生的思维能力。如我在教授五年级的“Seasons”这一模块的时候，提问学生：“What’s your favourite season?Why?”在这两个小问题中，第一问学生很容易回答出来，是属于低层次的，三四秒钟足矣；而后一个问题是开放性的，难度较大，需作一定的思考，属于高层次的，至少要留半分钟供学生思考，然后让学生充分表达、自我修正，老师再作评价，不要随便打断他们。经常这样训练，有助于培养学生的思维能力。
3.重难点处“留白”，欲擒故纵。在讲到重难点时，故意保留某些内容不讲，“吊学生胃口”，可以激发他们的学习兴趣和强烈的求知欲，便于他们静静地思考，从而加深对知识的理解和掌握。
总之，学生的创新意识、创新能力是靠教师长期有意识的培养形成的，需要长久的探索。我们应在鼓励学生多方面、多渠道地获得知识的同时，注重唤醒他们的主体意识，尊重、理解、宽容地对待学生，给予他们轻松愉快的学习环境。当然，要想培养学生的创新能力，教师自身先得具备创新思维意识。因此，我们还必须在教学中不断进行反思，总结教学经验，帮助他们养成主动探索、独立思考的好习惯，这样才能真正促进学生创新思维的不断提高。
