Jeff Hancock of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, asked 30 students to keep a munications diary for a week. In it they noted the number of conversations or email exchanges they had lasting more than 10 minutes, and confessed to how many lies they told. Hancock then worked out the number of lies per conversation for each medium. He found that lies made up 14 per cent of emails, 21 per cent of instant messages, 27 per cent of face-to-face interactions and an astonishing 37 per cent of phone calls.
His results to be presented at the conference on human-puter interaction in Vienna, Austria, in April, have surprised psychologists. Some expected emailers to be the biggest liars, reasoning that because deception makes people unfortable, the detachment ***非直接接触*** of emailing would make it easier to lie. Others expected people to lie more in face-to-face exchanges because we are most practised at that form of munication.
But Hancock says it is also crucial whether a conversation is being recorded and could be reread, and whether it occurs in real time. People appear to be afraid to lie when they know the munication could later be used to hold them to account, he says. This is why fewer lies appear in email than on the phone.
People are also more likely to lie in real time—in a instant message or phone call, say—than if they have time to think of a response, says Hancock. He found many lies are spontaneous ***脱口而出的*** responses to an unexpected demand, such as: “Do you like my dress?”
Hancock hopes his research will help panies work our the best ways for their employees to municate. As we have seen, the focus of medical care in our society has been shifting from curing disease to preventing disease—especially in terms of changing our many unhealthy behaviors, such as poor eating habits, *** oking, and failure to exercise. ㈣ 如何准备英语四级考试，如何提高听力，阅读，翻译，写作能力
如何准备大学英语四级考试
1、首先定位自己的英语水平。
了结自己，了解四级，可谓是知己知彼，百战不殆。首先可以以自己所参加的几次综合考试或四级考试，以及做全真题的成绩和感受来定位自己的英语水平，至少是英语应试的水平。可以大略地确定自己的长处和短处。长处继续发扬，短处必须恶补。因为时不我待。
2、词汇的积累和熟练。
词汇是参加任何英语考试的基础。词汇的记忆和积累，精记和泛记要结合起来。精记以词汇书为主，做到”四到“： 手到（拼写），口到（朗读），心到（专心）和脑到（分析构词法，成串记忆，考点）。同时用卡片或小手册强化记忆每页中难以记住的重要词汇。泛记是积累英语词汇的最有效的方法，但是短时间难以达到大纲所规定的量，不过可以作为辅助手段。就是在平时的阅读，听力，练习，甚至生活中用心捕捉和四级单词和相关单词，特别是某些四级词汇的搭配。
3、语法结构的加强。尽管现在单独作为考试题型的语法结构取消了，可是在任何一个四级和六级的考试题型中，语句的理解还是以语法结构为基础，特别是结构。所以大家还是要把重点的语法现象有个全面的理解和掌握，同时精选10篇左右文章，细看，精看，涉及到每个词，结构，篇章来温习和锻炼自己长句，复杂句等的理解，同时逐步加快速度，可以提高自己在考试中，特别是阅读理解中理解的速度。
4、听力的磨练。
听力可能是许多考生头疼的问题。听力薄弱的原因很多，词汇量，语音，语法结构（意群），语气语调重读（语感），锻炼，技巧等。在加强自己词汇量，语法结构的理解，以及语音尽量标准的基础上，每天至少要留出半小时的时间加强听力练习，以听和四级命题相类似的练习为主。如果不懂，可以反复听几遍。少看或尽量推迟看文字材料。把简短对话和文章结合起来听。同时附以听写短句。难度可以逐步加大。对于基础不好的同学，可以选择比较简单的材料分项训练（时间，数字，地点，转折）。
5、阅读理解的掌握。
阅读是四级中最重要的部分，得阅读者，得天下。但是反之亦然。所以应该重视。但是阅读是综合才能。词汇，结构，逻辑，篇章，理解等对阅读产生很大的影响。在加强基本功的基础上，在附以技巧和训练。现在朋友们的阅读不必上量上速度，要精看，找出自己理解的长处和短处（特别是错误后的反省）注意阅读步骤的培养：浏览——看题——找答案点——理解含有答案点句子或段落——看和理解选项——对比和对应选项和答案点。掌握技巧和方法是现在必须要做的，所以完成一篇文章后，最好要返看，提炼自己的得失，总结出题特点和思路，同时提炼好的词汇搭配，结构甚至写作中可以用到的精彩句子。然后逐步加大量和提高自己的速度。
6、完形和简短回答等。
该项是综合题型，只要基本功加强了，扎实了，再练习若干，不会有多大问题。
7、写作训练。是综合基本功的体现。现在在词汇，结构，篇章等能力提高的同时，遵循从翻译单句，长句，段落到翻译文章的步骤，可以中英文互译，对比和原文的差别，找出自己表达的不足。同时注意平时要练笔，交给老师或朋友修改，找出自己的问题，最好可以分类联系（记叙，说明，论说，信件，图表等）。同时注意把阅读和写作结合起来，积累好的词汇搭配，表达法，结构，篇章等，读书破万篇，下笔如有神。另外，写作是人工批阅的部分，所以评阅老师对作文的印象很重要，这就要求考生关注一下这个方面。
要想考好四级，你必须持之以恒地学习，要制定计划。词汇是需要长时间积累的，短时间不会马上看出成果。每天听半小时的听力，背30个单词，每天读几篇文章，做5篇左右的阅读理解，一周写一两篇作文。这样坚持几个月你的英语水平就会提高的。
第一、自身准确的发音。
自身准确地道的英语(论坛)发音不能让你在听力上面无往不利，但是不准确不地道的发音绝对不能有效的解决听力问题。而准确地道的发音往往又得之于在听力中纠正自己的发音。两者是互相进行的。
第二、听力训练方法与听力工具。
这些都是辅助作用，绝对不是决定作用，再好的方法，再好的工具自己不多去听，都起不到作用，逆向听写法很多人说很有效，但是也要有一定的毅力才行；听力工具，无非就是复读机了，电脑上也有不少听力软件可以选择，如能飞英语网 的能飞软件，这个复读软件是非常值得推荐使用的
第三、阅读应与听力练习同时，同比重的进行。
很多人为提高听力把所有时间都集中在听力材料的练习上。我肯定的说，这是个错误。我们不是生活在国外，你无论怎样营造，都不能有一个真正的外国的文化氛围在你身边，这一个已经可以说明只注重单一的听力练习是错误的。其次，听力练习中，你接触到多少信息呢？这个信息包括词汇、语法、习惯用法、文化等等在接触材料时能够遇到的所有东西。我敢说你听十盒磁带不及我读一本原著的信息量。如果别人的说话内容超出了你那听得滚瓜烂熟的磁带内容，你是否有信心听懂？这可是十分自然的事情，你自己日常的说话内容，是否可以用十盒磁带来装得下来。只要你发音正确，你在阅读时接触到的词，如果让你在听的时候遇到，很多都有可能听懂。倘若你的听力目标是想听什么就能听懂什么的话，阅读起到的作用更是举足轻重。同时，如果你连在阅读中都无法读懂的句子，你在听力中能够听懂吗？我想来个总结：词汇量和语法是阅读的关键，阅读量的多少以及阅读能力的好坏决定听说能力的高低，而我们学习语言，又必须从听说开始。
第四、VOA Special English是很好的听力材料，但是你已经听够了，给点信心自己，听一些外国人正常语速的东西。
你不可能要求外国人用Special English的语速说话给你听。事实上Special English和正常的说话之间的差别并不是大家想的那么小，而语速对听力的影响更不是想象中那么微弱，往往是起了决定性的影响的。因为正常语速跟慢速之间不同的地方实在太多，譬如连读、省略、轻读、模糊等等，这些都是影响听懂与否的关键要素。Special English里全是完整的句子，可是实际上正常的说话表达才不需要那么正儿八经呢？你是否有信心听懂？况且Special English里更遇不到丰富的词汇，复杂的结构。听了几个月或半年的特别英语，别想自己还是特别的了，听听正常的东西吧。但是，还认为，VOA Special English应该不间断的听，只是不能把重点放在上面了。因为VOA Special English不但是入门英语中不可多得的听力材料，也是纠正发音的绝佳材料。无论你英语学习到达了什么程度，我到希望你能够不断听Special English。
第五、 专心听懂一盒磁带比你囫囵吞枣的听了十盒磁带的效果要好得多。
我们记忆单词平时是用眼看心记，虽然你是认识了这个单词，但很可能你还是听不懂这个单词，听力练习时是用耳朵对单词的再熟悉。精听了一盒磁带你用耳朵记忆了这盒磁带里所有的单词和句子、发音、语调等等。泛听十盒磁带，你记不了多少东西的。
第六、 精听的同时，泛听十分重要。好像跟上面自相矛盾的样子。
请听我解释。泛听有精听得不到的东西，我说的却不是很多人认为在听中得到的信息量。其实泛听听懂的实在不多，泛听中想强调的是：语速、语调。让习惯正常的语速。我们在精听时都是不断反复听同一句话的，可是实际上别人只会说一次给你听。请在泛听中让自己习惯别人用正常语速，只说一次的情况。不会要求预报天气的说一句后又重复一次吧。
第七、 如何精听。不赞成无论听什么都在听懂了后再根据录音默写一遍。
至少不赞成听每一篇听力材料都听写。原因之一是听力有时候更多注重“量”。没有听过的东西即使是汉语你也大概不会懂吧。建议是：挑选认为典型的材料再听写。那么精听要精到什么程度呢，听一句复述一句，或者就跟着录音一起读。（当然是不能看着文本啦。）这样效果不比听写查，所费时间要省得多。
第八、 如何泛听，看电影是泛听。
听实时广播是泛听，看电视是泛听，尽可能接触更多正常的原始音频。
可以反反复复听同一盒磁带，直到兴味索然。只要不停顿就是泛听。泛听过程中，你也可以将录音就转为精听。并没有严格的界限。只是要记得，泛听的目的是让自己习惯正常的语速，或者说，习惯外国人的正常的交流是怎样的。关注的是语速、连读、略音等等只有连续说话才会有的东西。

英语四级过级，请参考下面的题型和评分标准，多看，多做练习，即可通过CET4。
题型和分值比例如下：
英语四、六级评分标准
大学英语四、六级考试的原始分数在经过加权、等值处理后，参照常模转换为均值为500、标准差为70的常模正态分数。同时，四、六级考试不设及格线，考试合格证书改为成绩报告单。
四级考试单项分的报道分为四个部分，这四个部分以及各部分所占的分值比例分别为：
英语四级各档的分数分布是：听力（35%）249分、阅读（35%）249分、综合（10%）70分、写作和翻译（20%）142分。

另外四级要500分以上（包含500）可以考口语，六级要425分（包含425) 各单项报道分相加之和等于报道总分。
四级的单项报道分也是常模正态分数，但参照的常模是相应的单项常模。
因此，单项报道分能够报道考生在各单项常模群体中所处的百分位置。
示例
例1：某考生四级报道总分是450分，从表1可以查到其在常模群体中的相应百分位是25%，表示这名考生的英语成绩优于常模群体中25%的人，但劣于75%的人。
例2：某考生四级报道总分是500分，从表1可以查到其在常模群体中的相应百分位在44%～55%之间，表示这名考生的英语成绩至少优于常模群体中44%的人，但不会优于55%的人。
