试卷内容是一样的，题目、选项顺序都给打乱了，在同一考场上试卷是不完全相同的，在不同考场，不同地区，甚至不同学校考场所使用的卷都是不一样，这里所说的不一样仅仅只是答案的选项顺序不一样，据说有十几套试卷。所以答案不能参考ABCD，而是要参照后面的选项。其目的是为了防止应考者在考场上作弊。

四级是省与省之间是不一样的，各省有各自的试卷。2010年全国四六级考试是国家试行花卷考试的第一年。为保证公平公正的原则，从2010年开始，国家考试都将采用花卷的形式，英语四级考试已经不需要再填涂AB卷。以往每年都有考生忘记填涂AB卷影响成绩，取消AB卷对大家来说应该是省去了一桩麻烦事。
