Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies， economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. Though more and more companies built， management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field in China， so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management in England. The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modern entrepreneurs. As a young girl， it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures， and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. My mother was also involved in business as an accountant， helping him with simple calculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I， also， would someday be able to enter the realm of business.

With the time of growing up， I preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered. Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly.

As a high school student in China， I had to concentrate on the College Entrance Examination (CEE)， even so， books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June， I was so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in the department of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms， I realized that I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At that moment， I lost my direction and objectives.

My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter of fact， I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American， and some books about management by Peter F.Drucker. I began to notice something interesting： Why some companies can proce more than others? Why some company can sell more than others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?

With the questions in my mind， I started to read many relevant books. I was lucky to read the book “Jack： Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch， in Which John A. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. When I was a junior， I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. I should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. From this， my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed， definitely I was increasingly interested in what I was doing. By December， ， I had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge， I strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies.

Fortunately， as a senior， I began by concting an internship in the Architecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months， I worked as an assistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the different departments in this company and to draft some management system， which broadened my perspective of management conditions and business performance in different instries. The experience showed me that management is much more important than that of I thought in big companies. After graation， I continued my work in this company. In May， the company offered me an opportunity to participate in an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depth discussions with teachers and students in the classes， they all encouraged me to pursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual ability and the brand new ideas I mentioned.

During the short period of training， I realized that pursuing a higher degree in management is a wise choice for me now. Studying overseas is a dream for many students. It is their wish and goal in life to be able to extend their studies overseas where more information is available and better resources are made available to them. However, this dream is not easily achievable e to the sheer costs of overseas studies.

A detailed breakdown of the expenses involved will frighten many aspiring students. Besides from having to fork out a large sum for tuition fees and textbooks, certain courses may require students to pay for experiments and use of special equipment. Certain courses may also ask that students attend seminars and conferences to expose themselves to a variety of research and opinions. However, these extraordinary arrangements are arranged from the students' own pockets since they do not constitute part of the curriculum.

Living expenses is another problematic area for most foreign students. Having a place to stay on campus would be the ideal situation for most. That way, one can cut down on transportation fees. Most schools offer meals at cheaper prices within campus for students who stay on campus. Some halls even include meals in their rental fees. Unfortunately, being able to find accomodation on campus isn't an easy feat. There are so many students fighting for that one vacant lot in some good universities. Those who aren't lucky enough to get a room on campus will have to make do with renting houses outside which are more expensive and involves costs to travel to and fro from campus. Dining is more costly out of the campus too.

Sometimes, students may wish to gather around and have some celebrations for festivals. That would greatly increase the amount of money spent on dining. If this is an occasional event then it won't be a cause for concern.

Other than living expenses, one also has to make considerations for illness, accidents, emergency situations etc. All these mean that the student must have cash on hand to help himself/herself out of these crisis.

Thus, from all the points stated above, it can be seen that studying overseas is indeed an expensive option.

My mother believes that I should go for Finance studies, while I clearly know that my interest has never been in the Mathematical formulas and numbers, I always find the diversities of societies, people, beliefs, cultures and the way people interacting together very fascinating. So, ring this summer, my thoughts kept returning on why I worked so unsuccessfully towards studying finance and economics as my mother expected? And how can I truly become my own master by progressing a BA that I really like to engage more research and enrich myself with? How did all the cultural and beliefs affecting the way we acting the roles in the community? In which way an indivial could actually build up and refine his/her identities?

In pursuing a Sociology degree, I seek answers to these questions. A thorough examination of the Sociology behind human behaves could reveal the beliefs, values and identities; it enables us to exam and understand ourselves better. While knowledge of Sociology will certainly benefit the social services providing, I also maintain a passion for Culture Studies for that same reason. Cultural behaviour study appeals to me because it tells us why we act in a certain way - under a cultural atmosphere. Also for being in the UK for 3 years, the knowledge about the outside world has given me a unique and balanced perspective to examine the reality of Chinese society too.
