⑴ 什么是电极
电子或电器装置、设备中的一种部件，用做导电介质(固体、气体、真空或电解质溶液)中输入或导出电流的两个端。输入电流的一极叫阳极或正极，放出电流的一极叫阴极或负极。电极有各种类型，如阴极、阳极、焊接电极、电炉电极等。
电极的概念是M.法拉第进行系统电解实验后在1834年提出的，原意只指构成电池的插在电液中的金属棒。电池的组成部分，它由一连串相互接触的物相构成，其一端是电子导体──金属（包括石墨）或半导体，另一端必须是离子导体──电解质（这里专指电解质溶液，简称“电解液”或“电液”）。
在电池中电极一般指与电解质溶液发生氧化还原反应的位置。电极有正负之分，一般正极为阴极，获得电子，发生还原反应，负极则为阳极，失去电子发生氧化反应。电极可以是金属或非金属，只要能够与电解质溶液交换电子，即成为电极。
电极的物理种类：
1、可逆电极
任何金属与电解液接触都会产生电势（位），这是电极的最主要的特征性质。如果电极界面上存在着单独一种氧化还原对的快速电子交换，即存在着交换电流很大的（见迁越超电势）单一电极反应，这种电极能很快建立电化学平衡，称为可逆电极。
2、火花机电极
火花机电极，也称为铜公，也是火花机加工中不可缺少的。火花机加工时，电极和工件分别连接脉冲电源的两极。在电极与工件上施加的脉冲电压产生火花放电。放电的瞬间温度可高达一万摄氏度以上，高温使得工件表面局部气化或熔化。
3、铈钨电极
是在钨基中添加稀土氧化铈经过粉末冶金和压延磨抛工序制作而成的钨电极产品，是中国最早生产的无放射性钨电极产品，该产品的特点是在低电流条件下有着优良的起弧性能，维弧电流较小。因此，它常用于管道，不锈钢制品和细小精密部件的焊接。
4、镧钨电极
是欧洲国家在八十年代推出的企望替代钍钨产品的改良品种，一经推出，以其优良的焊接性能在国际焊接界倍受关注并非常流行，尤其受到欧洲焊接学院派的追捧，因为这个原因，镧钨电极的出口量仅次于钍钨，而在国内市场认知度并不高。
5、钍钨电极
是最早使用的稀土钨电极，也是迄今为止焊接性能最好的钨电极品种，因此，在全球范围内该品种钨电极市场占有率最高，但因为钍钨电极在粉末冶金和压延磨抛过程中会发生放射性污染，因此欧美国家限制生产该品种电极，但因为其优良的焊接性能，其使用并没有受到限制。
