要學好寫英語短文，就必須經常練習寫作。記日記是提高書面表達能力的有效方法之一。日記是每日生活的記載，是一種記事文體。
一、日記的格式
英文日記通常由書端和正文兩個部分組成。日記常以第一人稱記下當天生活中的所見、所聞、所做或所想的事情。中、英文的日記三格式大致一樣。英語日記的書端是專門寫日記的日期、星期和天氣的。左上角是日期（年、月、日）、星期。右上角寫上當天的天氣情況，如：Sunny, Fine, Rainy, Windy, Snowy, Cloudy等。
1、日期表達有多種形式。年、月、日都寫時，通常以月、日、年為順序，月份可以縮寫，日和年用逗號隔開。例如： December 18, 2003 或者 Dec. 18, 2003
A) September 1, 2004或September 1st, 2004也可省略寫成Sept. 1, 2004或Sept. 1st, 2004;B)the 1st of September in 2004（月份不可以縮寫）
B）只有月、日

1.寫英語日記與英語學習的關系人們常說：要真正學好英語，就要培養用英語思想的能力。
但是，要做到這一點是不容易的。有一個簡單易行的辦法可以幫助我們練慣用英語思想，那就是用英語寫日記。
日記是十分自由的文體，不像作文，必須有正式的主題，講究文體。日記是思想，是感情，是內心的一切。

1. 英語日記和作文該怎麼寫
英語日記，日期欄的月份與星期，因為經常重覆的關系，常以縮與代替，如January 1st, Sunday 就可寫成Jan. 1 , Sun. 或Sun., Jan. 1 。 後面加上氣候獎況，如Cloudy（陰）、rainy（雨） 、windy（風）、cool（涼爽）等等。
英文日記有接寫及一頁篇兩種主要形式，如果正式一點的，則會在日期欄與內文之間加上題目。

1.首段引人：
