日期和星期要寫在正文的左上角，其順序多是「星期 + 月、日、年」，也有把星期放在後面的，如「 2003 年 11 月 22 日，星期一」可寫為「 Monday November 22, 2003 或 November 22, 2003 Monday 」。天氣情況應寫在正文的右上角，如： Fine, Rainy, Cloudy, Windy 等。

3. 關於正文的書寫。
正文是關於一天生活的記載，也是日記的主題。在書寫正文時要做到： 1 ）要選擇當天感受最深刻、最有意義的事件來描述，不要寫成簡單的流水帳； 2 ）日記的內容多是親身經歷和耳聞目睹的事情，所以要用第一人稱來寫； 3 ）日記多是在當天晚上來記述當天發生過的事情，因為動詞時態常使用過去時，但使用時必須靈活掌握，如景物描寫、議論某事、對話引語等要使用現在時態； 4 ）日記應以時間發生的先後順序來展開，並且要簡明扼要，條理清楚，寫出真實感。
