Cache：英文含義為「(勘探人員等貯藏糧食、器材等的)地窖；藏物處」。電腦中為高速緩沖存儲器，是位於CPU和主存儲器DRAM(Dynamic Randon Access Memory)之間，規模較小，但速度很高的存儲器，通常由SRAM(Static Random Access Memory靜態存儲器)組成。

CMOS：是Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconctor的縮寫，含義為互補金屬氧化物半導體(指互補金屬氧化物半導體存儲器)。CMOS是目前絕大多數電腦中都使用的一種用電池供電的存儲器(RAM)。它是確定系統的硬體配置，優化微機整體性能，進行系統維護的重要工具。它保存一些有關系統硬體設置等方面的信息，在關機以後，這些信息也繼續存在(這一點與RAM完全不同)。開機時，電腦需要用這些信息來啟動系統。如果不慎或發生意外而弄亂 了CMOS中保留的信息，電腦系統將不能正常啟動。

Seagate：美國希捷硬碟生產商。Seagate英文意思為「通往海洋的門戶」，常指通海的運河等。

Quantum：英文含意為「定量，總量」。著名硬碟商標，美國昆騰硬碟生產商(Quantum Corporation)。

Maxtor：「水晶」，美國Maxtor硬碟公司。

LD：Laser Disk，鐳射光碟，又稱激光視盤。

CD：Compact Disc，壓縮光碟，又稱激光唱盤。
