大多數形容詞(性質形容詞)和副詞有比較級和最高級的變化,即原級、比較級和最高級,用來表示

單音節詞和少數雙音節詞,加詞尾-er,-est來構成比較級和最高級。

2.形容詞比較級和最高級的用法

(1)兩者作比較用比較級,句中常用than。例如:

Tom is taller than Bill.湯姆比比爾高。

She is more outgoing than me. 她比我更外向。

(2)三者或三者以上作比較用最高級,句中常有「of,in」,形容詞最高級前要加「the」。例如:

二、形容詞各等級的用法:

1、原級的用法

(1)、「as+形容詞/副詞原級+as」表示前後兩者的情況一樣。

She runs as fast as you.她和你跑得一樣快。

(2)、「 not as/(so)+形容詞/副詞原級+as」表示前者不如後者。

She isn』t as(so)active in sports as before.

2、比較級的用法

(1)、「比較級+than」結構用來表達一方比另一方「更……..」。

He always gets up earlier than I 他總是比我起得早。

(2)、「比較級+an+比較級」常表示事物本身程度的逐漸變化,意為「越來越…….」He is driving faster and faster. 他開車開得越來越快。

(3)、「The+比較級……,The+比較級……」常表示一方的程度隨著另一方的程度平行增長,意為「越…..,(就)越……」。

The busier you are ,the happier you feel. 你越忙就越開心。

(4)、「The+比較級+of the two+名詞 」結構表示「兩者中更….的那一個」。

The fatter of the two babies in the photo is my brother. 照片中的兩個寶寶,比較胖的那個是我弟弟(哥哥)。

(5)、「Which/who is+比較級,A or B?」結構表示「哪一個/誰更….A還是B?」。Which is bigger,the earth or the moon?哪一個更大,地球還是月球?

3、幾種特殊的比較結構

(1)「A….+倍數+as+原級+as+B」意為「A是B的….倍…….」

Our library is twice as big as yours. 我們的圖書館是你們的兩倍大。

(2)、「A…+數次+名詞+比較級+htan+B」意為「A比B…..」

You are two kilograms heavier than him. 你比他重兩千克。

(3)、「A….+the same +名詞+as+B」意為「A和B….一樣」

This coat is the same size as that one. 這件外套與那件尺寸一樣。

四、形容詞和副詞的比較級的修飾詞

形容詞和副詞的比較級常可以用much, a little, even等修飾: He made fewer mistakes than I did.

He is even richer than I.

4、高級:形容詞最高級前必須加the, 副詞最高級前常省略the,後面多用of……, in……短語表示範圍:

It was the most/least interesting story I have ever listened.

He is the tallest of the three.

5、如果在兩者之間表示「最……」時要在比較級前加the,而且還用of the two, of the pair短語:

John is the clever of the two boys.

Of the two boys, John is the clever.

三、重點與難點:

1、 as…as…結構:你和湯姆是一樣好的孩子。

You』re a boy as good as Tom.=You』re as good a boy as Tom.

2、 (1)too…to與 so…that sb.can』t…的句型轉換:前者為簡單句,主語只有一個,而後者為復合句,主語有兩個,試比較:

The man was too angry to be able to speak.

The man was so angry that he wasn』t able to speak.

The milk was too hot to drink.

The milk was so hot that we can』t drink it.

(2) too…to…與 not enough to句型的轉換:

He is too young to get married.=He is not old enough to get married.

The book is too difficult for me to read.=

The book is not easy enough for me to read.

3、形容詞原級表示比較級含義:

約翰不象邁克那麼苯。John is not so stupid as Mike.

John is less stupid than Mike.

John is cleverer than Mike.

4、用比較級表示最高級:約翰是班裡最高的男生。

John is taller than any other boy in the class.

John is the tallest boy in the class.
