二、課外閱讀有助於在讀中積累語言。
所謂「書到用時方恨少」，這「少」字的含義有二：一是讀的少，二是記住的少。 所以說話、作文時便沒詞兒了。如果讓學生多讀點，多積累些，天長日久，待到自己說話 作文時便能呼之即出，信手拈來，隨心所欲，左右逢源。「熟讀唐詩三百首，不會作詩 也會吟」說的就是這個道理。可現今學生課外閱讀大多已徒有其名了，他們整天被練習壓得抬不起頭來，很少有學生光顧閱覽室，報廊、報架也形同虛設。這樣的現實，極大地限制了學生的語言積累。許多文字上有造詣的作家、學者總結自己成長經歷時，總少不了青少年時期博覽群書，即便是班級上語文成績較好的同學也常常是對課外書刊情有獨鍾。因為，只有「博覽」，才能給大腦皮層形成多側面的語言刺激，而且，在閱讀過程中，能再次強化大腦皮層已有的語言信息，使大腦中業已形成的聯系系統更為完整、嚴密。這就要求語文教師精心指導，比如介紹課外讀物，指導課外閱讀筆記的記法，組織課外閱讀交流比賽等等。
三、課外閱讀有助於理解和運用祖國語文。
不少家長甚至部分老師都存在著一個認識上的誤區，總覺得學生看課外書是看"閑書"。他們恨不得孩子每分每秒都在聽寫、背誦、寫作文……似乎只有這樣，才能提高學生的語文學習水平。這種想法，其實還是應試教育衍生出的怪胎。試想，學生每天用半小時時間抄3遍字詞，以確保聽寫不錯一個字和讓他們每天用10分鍾有的放矢地練習難字，還是用20分鍾讀課外書，哪個更好呢？

people often say that gold and silver are the most valuable things in the world. but i don't think so. in my opinion, to read books is more valuable than anything else.the old saying「to open a book is always helpful」 clearly shows us how good it is to read a book.
are our friends. they introce us different kinds of knowledge.they lead us down the road to success.books are our teachers. they teach us truth, science, literature, and philosophy of life, besides they increase our knowledge, enlarge our experience, strengthen our character and do many other things which we can not do without them.we have to learn as long as we live. but our life is limited, and the knowledge is boundless. there are many things which are very necessary to learn and there are also many which should be avoided. books tell us what is good and what is evil. and only books can tell the good from the bad.
therefore to read more books is the best policy for our young students。
