二、作業布置要有趣味性.
「興趣是最好的老師」,也是學好任何一門功課的首要條件.因此布置作業時不能總是讓學生抄單詞寫句子,這樣會使他們感到枯燥乏味.因此,教師要盡量使作業類型多樣化,內容新穎,生動有趣,只有這樣才能喚起學生的好奇心和求知慾,從而激發他們的學習興趣,使其積極主動地進行學習.例如：在教學三年級英語課Happy birthday這一課時,讓學生結合自己過生日時的具體情況進行討論：有沒有生日聚會（ Birthday party）,有沒有生日禮物（Birthday presents）,有沒有生日蛋糕和蠟燭（Birthday cake and candles）.學生討論非常激烈.討論過後讓學生畫一畫生日蛋糕和禮物.並讓其家人過生日時唱一首「Happy birthday」,這樣學生在不知不覺中運用了新知.
三、作業布置要有精簡性.
在提倡素質教育減輕學生負擔的新的教育形式下,教師必須把好作業的質量關.要精心選擇和設計符合教學內容的習題,使作業少而精,但同時又能對學生進行有針對性的訓練.既鞏固了知識又鍛煉了英語交際能力,不能布置超量作業.杜絕「題海戰術」,否則學生產生厭學、逃避作業的心理就將事倍功半、得不償失.
