近日，教育部考試中心下發通知，原定於2007年1月舉行的大學英語四、六級考試（CET）將提前至今年12月舉行。

根據有關規定，從2006年12月的這次考試開始，大學英語四級、六級考試對象將限制在高校內部，全日制普通高等院校本、專科、研究生在校生、各類全日製成人高等學校本、專科在校生、修完大學英語四級課程的學生才能報考大學英語四級（CET4），修完大學英語六級課程且CET4達到425分或具有CET4合格證書的學生才能報考CET6。這意味著四、六級考試將不再接納社會考生報名。

此外，今年6月，全國180所試點院校的大學英語四級考試已經實行了改革。據悉，2006年12月四級考試改革方案將在全國推開，屆時「新四級」將全面取代「老四級」。而六級考試將於今年12月開始試點，明年開始全面推廣。

從今年6月的四級考試來看，「新四級」不僅在考試題型上有所改變，在整個考試流程上也有變化——

第一，新四級的考試流程與原四級正好相反，先考寫作，聽力考試則放在了最後。考聽力時，直接播放試題，之前不再播放考場指令。

第二，聽力比重明顯增加，整個聽力時間加長至35分鍾。新題型中，聽力比重由原來的20％上升到35％，其中聽力對話佔15％。以往考查的小對話由原來的10題減少為8題，另外還增加了長對話這種新題型，共兩篇。

第三，新四級考試翻譯題型發生了變化，由考查英譯漢轉變為考查漢譯英。
