形容詞比較等級
形容詞最高級前不加the的情況
在句中使用形容詞最高級時，一般要加定冠詞the.但以下幾種情況，最高級之前不加定冠詞。
一、如果形容詞最高級用來加強語氣，表示/"非常、極其/"的意思時，前面一般不用定冠詞，但有時可以加不定冠詞。例如：
He is a most careful student in our class. 他是我們班上一個非常細心的學生。
She is in closest touch with us .她和我們保持非常密切的聯系。
二、作表語的形容詞最高級，只用來同本身比較，實際上並無比較范圍，此時前面不用定冠詞。例如：
I/'m busiest on Monday. 我在星期一最忙。
It/'s best to do so. 這樣做最好。
The lake is deepest at this place .湖的這個地方最深。
三、如果形容詞最高級用在由that, thought, as引導的讓步狀語從句中，前面不用定冠詞。
Youngest though he is, he is the wisest. 雖然他最年輕，但他最聰明。
Cleverest thought he is, he doesn/'t study hard.雖然他最聰明，但他不認真學習。
四、在at (the) least至少，at (the ) latest最近，at(the) farthest最遠，at(the) worst最壞等短語中，作名詞用的形容詞最高級前的the常可省去。例如：
They will come back on June 1 at (the ) latest. 他們最遲將在六月一日回來。

由關鍵詞判斷該用哪種等級
一、用原級時的關鍵詞
沒有比較對象時就用原級。關鍵詞一般為表程度的副詞，像so, very, too等等。如：
The box is very big. 這只箱子很大。
二、用比較級時的關鍵詞
兩個人或事物進行比較時需要用比較級，但所比較的須的是同一類人或事物。用比較級時的關鍵詞為than, 比較級前可以有much, a little, a lot, even(甚至)於等修飾語。如：
This book is much better than that one. 這本書比那本好得多。
She is a little shorter than I. 她比我矮一點。
三、用最高級時的關鍵詞
三個或三個以上的人或物進行比較時，則用最高級。用最高級時的關鍵詞通常為in或of所構成的介詞短語來表示比較范圍。注意形容詞的最高級前通常加the. 如：
She is the youngest in her class. 在她班裡她年齡最小。
I/'m the tallest of the three. 三人之中我個子最高。
四、特殊情況
1．由介詞of所構成的表示比較范圍的短語中，如果有two或two加名詞復數時，則用比較級，且比較級前要加the.如：
He is the older of the two. 兩個人中他的年齡較大。
2．即使句子中有in所構成的短語，如果有than,仍用比較級。如：
She is taller than any other girl in the class. 她在班裡比其她任何一個女孩個子都高。

數量的比較
在比較級中，我們若比較兩者間數量的多少，可用 /"more…than…/"，表示/"比……多/"，more可修飾可數或不可數名詞。用/"fewer…than/"表示/"比……少/"，fewer修飾可數名詞，/"less(little的比較級)…than/"表示/"比……少/"，less修飾不可數名詞。
Rose has more pens than I (do) .
(註：此處若後有do則than後只能用I,若沒有do則than後還可用me. )
作為短語，常說/"less than a week/"(不到一周) /"less than three hours/"（不到三小時）。此處的less than不能改成fewer than.
三者或三者以上的人或事物中進行比較，要用最高級，many和much 的最高級是most, few 的最高級是fewest, little 的最高級是least. 如：
Of the three boys, Tom has the most friends.
三個孩子中，Tom的朋友最多。
Of all the students, I have the least money in my class.
在班上所有學生中，我算是最沒有錢的。
最高級前的定冠詞the不能被省略，比較前一般不用the, 但若形容詞比較級用於表示比較級范圍的介詞of短語前，則這個比較級已經相當於一個名詞，因此該比較級也要用定冠詞the，如：
The shorter of the two boys is my brother.
兩個孩子中較矮的那一個是我弟弟。
最後要注意的一點是，一定范圍內的最高級和比較級可以換用，如：
Tom is the tallest boy in your class.
Tom is taller than any other boy in our class.
這兩句雖然表達方式不一樣，但含義仍一樣。
