你要搞清楚，什麼是音樂生，什麼是特長生？特長生文化課只有10到20分的減分政策，特長要提前進行考試，然後回去准備文化課高考，如你報考的學校分數線為600分，同時你參加了此校的特長生考試，且這個學校格給你一個可以報考特長生的特長分數，以及對你文化課優惠的報考分值。才叫特長生。如，你的特長得了80分，學校答應給你減20分，那麼你的文化課只需考到580分即可上你所報考的大學。進校後你和其他600考進的學生一樣由學校安排專業，所學專也與你的特長無關。音樂生是在每年的1月到3月間，參加各個學校的音樂專業的入學考試，拿到文考證（也就是專業合格證）後，一般來說文化課成績只需當年一本線的65%，個別211大學還會要求英語單科成績，一般在60-80分之間。總的來說文化成績400分左右就可以上一類大學。很多好的大學在音樂生入學後，如其第一年的科目平均分達到75，就可以申請選修第二學位，所選專業文理不限。也支持其他同級別高校學位聯修，同時還享有與其他專業的學生一樣可以爭取國際交流生的機會。但前提是，你考進去的時候是音樂專業，所以你才能獲得以不到三本線的文化課分數上一本的機會。兩個條件缺一不可，一、專業考試要過。二、文化課也要過線。最後強調，各個學校的音樂專業入學考試都是單獨進行，且各個學校之間互不承認考試分數。所以需要考生逐一報考自己所確定的學校。
