上海旅游观光的人也是越来越多，而来了上海却没有去过外滩的人实在是凤毛麟角了，甚至有些老外也纷纷慕名而来，用他们的话来说，其中原因不外乎这几点：一，外滩保有了许多解放前的老建筑，那些

建筑风格各异，颇具异国情调，被称为“万国建筑群”;二，而在老建筑的对面则是一大片的现代建筑：东方明珠电视塔、国际会展中心、金茂大厦还有初露面目的环球金融大厦一览无余。在外滩游览时，漫步于黄浦江畔，在人的两边风景迥然两异,一边是扑面而来的历史沧桑，另一边是呼之欲出的时尚气息，让人仿佛穿越了时空，感慨上海发展变化之巨大。在外滩观景人们普遍倾向于夜间游览，因为每当夜幕降临，两岸的建筑都被灯光所点亮，亦幻亦真，颇具朦胧感。

不过在我这个有十多年历史的老上海看来外滩的景色似乎也不怎么样。首先，一条黄澄澄的黄浦江就彻底打破了美感，估计黄土高原那儿的河也要比它清澈不少。接着再说说那边的“万国建筑群”，事实上那些建筑完完全全由外国人所建造，与上海的发展根本八竿子也打不到一块去，又不是石库门小弄堂那种上海独有的建筑形式，也敢被称为上海过去辉煌的标志，真是贻笑大方。而且每到晚上，那些有着六七十年历史的“老古董”被打上呼里花哨、光怪陆离的灯光时，有如一堆七八十岁的老头老太个个浓妆艳抹，实在让人毛骨悚然。估计那些老外来外滩的目的就在于这些老建筑了吧，因为在他们自己国家那么历史悠久的本国建筑也不多了，而在上海一下能看到那么多，于是乎在异地漂泊的游子心中一种家乡的眷恋感油然而生，这与我们去动物园时在猩猩猴子馆前待的时间较长的原因相同，因为在那里我们通常能找到自己的归属感。再说说那些现代建筑，那东方明珠酷似某有机分子的棍棒型原子空间结构图，并与金茂、环球金融大厦三座高楼直指青天，有如坟前的三柱青香，还有一旁的国际会展中心，从外滩看要多难看有多难看，就两个球堆在那里，碰上个视力差点的，还以为那两个球是从东方明珠上掉下来的，同时掉下来的还有一个球滚得比较远，在徐家汇停住了就成了美罗城。那些外地土鳖来上海大概就是为了看个新鲜，要知道那么诡异的建筑在他们那旮旯是见不到的，这样一种心理与他们听说有一只三条腿的蛤蟆而赶去看热闹的心理是相似的。曾经有这么一个笑话，说一个外地人来上海，一出火车站就看见了金茂大厦，于是乎就跑到金茂底下，仰着个脑袋数到底有多少层，大半天过后还没数完，因为每次数到一半时脖子酸了活动活动筋骨后又忘了数到哪了就只能重数，如此往复，到最后这个呆子就只能平躺在地上数了。由此可见一斑。

常听到有人介绍外滩时大言不惭地说外滩的新老建筑的对比体现了上海几十年发展的成果，殊不知在那些极度发达的国家，诸如瑞士、卢森堡，那里一个穷人的生活水平比我们这里儿富人还高，而它们那边最高的建筑竟然是一幢三层楼的、高十米的政府办公楼。发展的变化并不仅仅是靠建筑的新旧、高低评定的。也许当有一天，来上海旅游的人不再那么一如既往地去外滩了，或许是一条干净平整的马路，抑或许是路边一座环境优雅的公共厕所都能让人赞不绝口、流连忘返，那时上海的发展变化就真的十分巨大了。
