More than 80 percent of the world’s 1.8 billion young people (aged 10-24) live in developing countries and they are aggressively targeted by the tobacco instry. Four out of five teenagers living in developing countries say they have recently seen pro-tobacco advertising.

Carefully researched marketing strategies encourage girls and young women to use tobacco procts and seek to weaken cultural opposition to this trend in countries where women have traditionally not used tobacco.
