学校不仅是学生学习学科知识的地方,也是学生成长和个性发展的重要环境。课堂上的学习内容和学习方式无不影响学生的个人成长。遗憾的是,在学校、家庭以及其它任何场所,学生听到的批评远远多于鼓励。结果他们的自尊心受到损害,学习受到干扰,并由此引起一系列影响个人发展的消极因素。当然通过努力,教师能够扭转这种趋势。本文主要从以下四方面谈谈在英语教学过程中,教师如何运用生动的语言和恰当的方法去激励学生学习呢。
一、在课堂教学中恰当运用激励词
前苏联教育家苏霍姆林斯基说过:“让每个学生在学校里都能抬起头来走路。”课堂上教师给予学生肯定性评价语是激发学生情感的最好的激励词。英语课堂上口头活动最大,英语交往频繁。但学生不敢开口的现象极为常见,这就需要我们教师仔细分析学生的心理,用生动的语言去“激励”学生。对于那些敢于开口说的学生,要热情鼓励他们多听多说“Wonderful!”“That is great!”“You do speak pretty good English.” “This is the best I have seen today.”“You are the best.” “You are an excellent student who has natural gift for language.”...对于那些一时难以开口的学生,耐心诱导,可采用不断问话的方式,面带微笑, 鼓励他们开口“Try it again! You can speak well.”“You can do it!”“Do not worry!”“Believe in yourself!” “I am proud of you.”…。即使对于后进生,也别忘了给他们一声热情洋溢的“Good!”“Thank you !” “You are right!”。
二、在合作学习中运用评分激励。
学习成绩是客观存在的,作为一名教师,应该积极营造合作学习情境,帮助同学们提高成绩,逐步缩小差距,让全体学生共同努力攻克学习中的难关,充分发挥群体效应。具体做法可根据每个班的具体人数,把全班分成若干个学习小组(每组五至六人为佳),并设立小组长两名。组内鼓励个人努力争第一,在组与组之间团结互助争团体第一。根据同学们的学习情况提出不同的目标要求并制定好表格及时给予加分鼓励:(1)课文背诵(朗读)流利的同学(成绩好的同学要求熟练背诵,成绩差的学生只要求能开口朗读)。(2)课堂积极发言的同学,无论是回答难题还是简单题都给予加分鼓励。(一般把简单题留给基础较差的学生。)(3)作业认真完成且有创意的。(4)每次质量检测优秀的或有进步的都给予加分奖励等等。每个月小结一次,期中、期末各表彰一次,评出前三名的集体、个人;并评出“最佳小老师”奖,“最佳进步”奖等等,这虽然增加了老师的工作量,但一张小小的卡片,一张小小的奖状的作用是我们教师不能忽视的。这种小组合作学习能极大促进学生学习积极性,学生们往往很重视这种“竞赛”,因为他们的个人利益是从属于小集体的利益的,他们的学习态度直接影响着小集体的荣誉。
三、在作业、试卷批改中适当鼓励
所谓适当鼓励,是指按照学生作业(试卷)的具体情况,教师运用简单的、适当的鼓励性用语来达到师生情感交流的目的。例如:(1)对于做的较好的可说:①Good.②Wonderful.③Well, your handwriting is very good.④You have made great progress this time. ⑤You have done your work better this time.⑥Wonderful, your English is very good and your written answers are clear throughout.⑦That’s great. “批评”这种教育方式,通常适用于疏导障碍、纠正错误,然而某种时候用于激励学生行为,促使进步,也不失为一种好方法。
