上了初中之后，我遇到了一个非常好的老师，她对我们要求严厉，但依然是我们的好朋友，她那个时候就要求我们把所有的课文都背下来，这一点让我们受益颇多。不同的是，她还要求我们把每篇课文背了多长时间记下来，为的是能让我们对知识点的把握烂熟于心。比方说，同样一篇文章，一个同学背了是一秒，而另外一名同学背了十九秒，这就说明前者对知识点的掌握比后者要熟练好多。同样的方法我也应用到了自己的比赛当中，那就是赛前飞快的过稿子，做到不论从哪里断开，都能够迅速地接上去，因为一旦稿子背熟了，才有时间考虑肢体语言，眼神等。加上站到台上紧张或是出现特殊状况，稿子不熟是很容易出问题的。通常情况下，命题演讲会作为第一环节，如果这一环节做好了，能够帮助你很好的进入状态并增强你的自信心。在老师的指导下，我参加了郑州市“大山杯”英语演讲比赛并拿到了一等奖。

我的高中英语生活就是初中的延续，我依旧参加着各类英语演讲比赛，曾在郑州市“阳光杯”英语演讲比赛中获特等奖，“希望之星风采大赛”河南赛区第四名等。所有的经历都成为了我以后宝贵的比赛经验。所以在这里，我鼓励那些对于英语演讲有兴趣的同学一定要把握机会锻炼自己。就好像知识是积累的，经验也同样是积累的。
