京剧行当分类：
1，生
除了花脸以及丑角以外的男性正面角色的统称，分老生（又分重唱的安工老生，重做的衰派老生，重武的靠把老生）、武生（分长靠武生、短打武生并应工猴儿戏）、小生（分扇子生、雉尾生、穷生、武小生） 、红生 、娃娃生。
2，旦
女性正面角色的统称，分青衣（正旦）、花旦、闺门旦、刀马旦、武旦、彩旦。
3，净
俗称花脸，大多是扮演性格、品质或相貌上有些特异的男性人物，化妆用脸谱，音色洪亮，风格粗犷。“净”又分为以唱功为主的大花脸，分正净（重唱功，称铜锤、黑头）、架子花（重工架）、武二花、摔打花、油花（一称毛净）。
4，丑
扮演喜剧角色，因在鼻梁上抹一小块白粉，俗称小花脸。分文丑（分方巾丑、袍带丑、老丑、荣衣丑，并兼演彩旦、婆子）、武丑（又称开口跳）等。各个行当都有一套表演程式，在唱念做打的技艺上各具特色。

京剧是中国的国粹之一，其早期源于安徽的徽班进京，中国的戏曲无论是京剧版还是其他戏剧都有以权下几个特点，我自己总结的：
首先是虚拟性，不同于国外的戏曲戏剧，中国的戏剧没有写实的布景和灯光，所有的场景环境的变换都是由台上的角色的动作从而表达出来。
其实是程式化，这个程式化是指中国的戏曲的唱念做打以及生旦净末丑。这些都是有着很具体的要求，比如一个帝王将相出场时候应该如何亮相，如何下场，花旦的贴片等。这就注定了中国戏曲人物的造型和动作设计的程式化，而这一点又恰恰成就了京剧的最大特点。是其他戏剧所没有的。
这两点即是京剧的特点也是中国戏剧的特点，在往细节的说就是在唱腔啊台本上以及具体动作上的特点，我想你写英文作文应该不用那么细，如果你要我用英文帮你写，我实在是不知道如何翻译！

The commonly used percussion instruments include castanets, drums, bells and cymbals. One person usually plays the castanets and drum simultaneously, which conct the entire band. The orchestral instruments include the Erhu, Huqin, Yueqin, Sheng (reed pipe), Pipa (lute) and other instruments. The band usually sits on the left side of the stage.
