本品具有消毒抗菌作用,既可殺滅細菌又可殺滅真菌。比苯酚有更強的春指殺菌力,且毒性小。由於其水溶性極低,故應用受到限制。在齲齒腔中具有防腐、局麻和鎮痛作用,口腔科制劑如麝香草酚醑、牙髓慢失活劑、牙髓快失活劑等均含有麝香草酚。外用用於消炎、止痛、止癢租虛。

外用,濃度不超過2%。

對組織有一定 *** 性,本品遇蛋白質抗菌作用減弱。
