英語考試作文試題的一個最大的特點就是時限性，即在有限的時間內（一般分配30分鍾）按試題要求完成作文試題。有很多參試者最後交卷時作文題要麼沒有完成要麼質量比較差，這其中當然有很多原因，但不可忽視的一點原因便是寫作文時間不夠來不及完成作文或來不及仔細思考寫一篇合乎題目要求的文章。
