甲骨文文字特點：

甲骨文是鐫刻或寫在龜甲和獸骨上的文字。出土在河南安陽小屯村一帶，因為這里曾是商代後期商王盤庚至帝辛的都城，史稱為「殷」。商滅國，遂成為了廢墟，後人便以「殷墟」名之。

因此，甲骨文也稱「殷墟文字」。其內容絕大多數是王室占卜之辭，故又稱「卜辭」，或「貞卜文字」。這種文字基本上都是由契刻而成，又稱「契文」、或「殷契」等。

甲骨文距今已有三千餘年，它不僅是研究我國文字源流的最早而有系統的資料，同時也是研究甲骨文書法重要的財富。從書法的角度審視，甲骨文已具備了書法的用筆、結字、章法一共三個基本要素。
