黑格爾的這句名言出自其《法哲學原理》（Grundlinien der Philosophie des Rechts 1820）。
原文是：Was vernünftig ist, das ist wirklich; und was wirklich ist, das ist vernünftig.
英文翻譯是：What is reasonable is real; that which is real is reasonable. 另譯：What is rational is actual and what is actual is rational.
