1．認真審題立意，定文章之靈魂。

對命題作文必須認真審題，對自由作文必須立好意。文章要有明確的主題，必須具備4個條件：准確、鮮明、深刻、集中。我們以一篇命題作文"The English teacher I Admire Most"為例,文章的主題是關於記敘我最欣賞的一位英語老師，因而就不能泛泛談論老師這一職業或自己的幾位老師。

2．草擬提綱，打造文章之骨架。
