寫作部分是學位英語考試的一個難點，目的是考查學生的綜合語言能力。因此，考生在解答這部分題目時，必須要有一個清晰的思路。寫作基本上可以按照審題——構思——寫作——檢查修改這樣的步驟來解題：

(一)審題

看到作文題目之後，第一步就是要認真審題。審題是作文的前提，審題做得好，寫起來就可以事半功倍。審題時主要對以下幾個方面進行分析：

1.題型

即作文的題目是哪種形式的，是提綱式還是圖表式，是情景式還是關鍵詞式。不同的題型要求不同的結構和格式。確定了是哪種題型，就可以根據前面所講述的各種題型的特點、要求等來考慮應對策略。

2.體裁

即題目要求寫作的是什麼文體，是議論文、記敘文、說明文還是信件、通知等應用文體。

不同的文體對語言風格和文章結構的要求不同。

如果是議論文，就要想到應該採用哪種方法進行論述，是列舉法還是例證法，是歸納法還是演繹法等，同時要提醒自己注意論述的邏輯要清楚，論述要有力等。如果是記敘文，就要想到如何構建事情的發展脈絡，語言表述要符合記敘文的要求，事情的記敘要結構清晰，記敘文的六要素，即事件的時間、地點、人物、起因、經過、結果，要表達明白等。而說明文則要求對事物或事件進行描寫說明，特別要注意說明文的語言問題。如果是書信或通知等應用文體，除了要准確表述所要求的內容之外，還要注意格式問題。

3.題意

即題目所要求的主題或者說寫作內容。根據題目中所給的提綱、圖表、情景或關鍵詞等信息，考生可以確定作文的主題是什麼，是關於哪個方面的，具體的要求又是什麼。如果確定了作文的題材范圍，那麼考生就可以積極地從自己的知識儲備中調動相關知識，進行構思。

(二)構思

在分析清楚了作文的題型、體裁、題意之後，考生應該開始構思寫作內容和寫作步驟了。

這一步主要是考慮作文的寫作提綱，確定文章的基本結構，同時從題目和頭腦中搜索信息，組織材料，確定要寫作的內容。如果時間允許的話，考生可以在草稿紙上大致寫下提綱和所想到的各種信息，然後根據題目要求進行篩選，確定哪些信息要出現在作文當中。如果考生覺得時間很緊張的話，可以只在頭腦中構思，不動筆寫下來。但是一定要構思出一個清晰而完整的寫作思路，以指導下一步驟的下筆寫作。

(三)寫作

即考生真正動筆在答題紙上寫作文的階段。因為有了前面的構思，已經有大致的框架和思路了，所以寫起來應該不會太費力。到了寫作階段，考生還應該注意一些問題：

1.選詞要恰當

考生要特別注意選詞的恰當性和准確性。英語中有很多同義詞和近義詞，考生要注意這些詞的細微差別，尤其要注意感情色彩方面的差異，比如politician和statesman等。

2.句子和段落發展要連貫

句子之間的邏輯關系要明確，段落之間的相互關系也要清楚，尤其要注意句子之間以及段落之間的銜接，注意運用銜接手段來保持文章行文的連貫性。一些常用的表示句子之間的關系的連接詞有：

(1)並列關系

and，more than that，also，likewise，moreover，in addition，what』s more，furthermore

(2)轉折關系

although，though，while，however，on the contrary，but，in spite of，nevertheless，yet，otherwise，despite

(3)順序關系

first，second，third，firstly，secondly，thirdly，then，before，after，next

quently，on account of，thanks to，because of

(5)歸納關系

as a result，finally，accordingly，in short，thus，consequently，in conclusion，so，in brief，in a word，therefore，to sum up，generally speaking

3.文章的結構要完整

即文章寫作要有始有終，而且要符合題目的要求。不要有始無終，只作分析，沒有結論，或者只有發展，沒有結果。

4.注意文章的時態和語法問題

在寫作時，考生要時刻注意，提醒自己盡量不要犯一些語法錯誤，尤其要注意時態問題，是否與題目要求相一致，文章內部是否統一等。還要注意主謂一致的問題。

(四)檢查修改

這一步驟也很重要。作文寫作完畢之後，考生應該通讀全文，檢查其中是否有語法錯誤、拼寫錯誤、標點符號使用錯誤、斷句等，還要注意讀起來是否順暢，其中的邏輯關系是否清楚，行文是否連貫通順等。對於發現的一些錯誤，應該盡量修改。但是，注意不要對文章的大結構進行較大的改動，一是因為時間可能不夠，二是因為這樣勢必會導致卷面雜亂，而且因為是對結構進行改動，很有可能造成思路混亂，越改越亂。

(五)注意事項

除了按照以上的步驟進行解題之外，考生還應該注意以下事項：

1.要合理分配時間

因為寫作的考試時間是三十分鍾，所以考生要合理安排和利用。具體說來，可以根據寫作的步驟把三十分鍾分為三個階段。一般應利用五分鍾的時間進行審題和構思。弄清題目要求並構造出一個寫作提綱後，考生要利用二十分鍾左右的時間根據構思的提綱，按照已確定的寫作內容來正式動筆寫作。最後利用五分鍾的時間來通讀全文，進行檢查和修改。切忌在某一階段花費過多的時間，那樣會減少其他步驟的時間，有時甚至可能沒有時間來進行其他步驟的工作了。

2.作文的字數要恰當

學位英語考試的作文一般要求是100～120個詞。考生要注意不能寫得太長或太短。如果寫得太長的話，可能會比較羅嗦。俗話說，「言多必失」，寫得越多，就意味著出現錯誤的可能性越大。此外，時間方面也不允許考生超「長」發揮。但是如果寫得太短，字數太少，閱卷老師也會酌情扣分。另外，作文也會顯得不充分、太空洞。因此，考生要注意，寫得太長和寫得太短都不合適，字數在規定的范圍內是最合適的。
