1.1翻譯理論要不要看？事實上，要想學好翻譯，對於一個沒有基本翻譯理論的人來說，建議還是學一下翻譯理論，因為那上面會講被動變主動，詞性的轉換啦等，而這對於一個非英語專業的人來說，是有必要的。也是一條捷徑，否則很多人則是一個字一翻，不是翻譯意思了。比如有人翻譯的good good study, day day up。這樣的書一般城市的書店都有的。當然，也有牛人，英語水平很好，看了英語就能翻譯出貼切的漢語，或反之，那就沒有必要這么做了。1.2翻譯怎麼提高？歷史上的大翻譯家，比我們條件要差得多，但是學得成就不比我們差，因為人家有好的方法，那就是吃透一本書，翻譯好它。建議新手可以拿來這樣的一本書，一頁頁地看，一點點地翻，翻譯了比較，比較了記住，這樣才有提高。就像做飛行員一樣，只有飛行了多少個小時之後，才能真正開客機，要不你會開掉下來。口譯聽力也是如此，一般交替傳譯要精聽150－200盤磁帶，而同傳則是2000盤才能做起來。注意，這里是精聽，泛聽不包括在內的。想想吧，一個人要聽2000盤磁帶是什麼概念？翻譯也是如此，一般能達到翻譯技能的水平，要翻譯3－5萬字的量；要達到技巧的水平，要翻譯的量達到10－15萬的量，問問你翻譯了多少？1.3 語法要不要學？我認為一個好翻譯，沒有語法觀念是不行的，因為翻譯出來的句子要是不合語法規則，老外看了就會覺得你的水平不好，起碼覺得你有問題。因為說起來，英語是語法呈顯性的語言（這里指的漢譯英）。2． 翻譯證書要不要考？還是考下證書為好，因為有了證書，你的砸門磚才有了，否則，一般不易入行。因為你沒有東西證明你有這個水平。做筆譯的可以考考國家二級筆譯。口譯的也可以國家人事部的二級口譯。注意：如果你想做好，二級口譯或筆譯只是你的一個上進的過程中的路標，不是終點。3． 有了證書是不是能做翻譯了？回答是：It depends!有了證書，沒有實戰經驗，你就是新人，你得像海綿一樣到處去學習。比如你可以結交翻譯人員，請他們介紹經驗。再就是利用網路，去學習。一次我翻譯到專利的漢譯英，沒有英語的範本怎麼辦？去網上找！ 4． 剛開始能不能做自由人翻譯？剛開始，除非你是自己專業水平高，英語又好，那自然好。可是如果不是，還是到翻譯公司做做，因為那裡有規范的培訓，等自己水平高了，再去做自由人。一個有三年以上翻譯經驗的人很難找的，找到了年薪就不會低。現在你是用自己的便宜身價換經驗，以後是以經驗換大洋。付出去的東西，總會有收回來的時候，等式左右應該是相等的。5.． 什麼最重要？個人體會就是be open!向任何人學習，在任何地方學習。這么多的論壇，這么多的牛人，為什麼不學呢。學翻譯就得是雜家，你學的英語，但你得知道碳酸氫鈉怎麼說，汽車發動機沖程是怎麼回事。你要是懶人，沒有一顆好奇心，那最好別做翻譯。6． 詞彙量重要麼？重要，沒有詞彙，那你的翻譯就是不行。因為詞彙量代表一個人的思維能力，British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill，有90，000詞彙量，相當高了，因為比較起來，莎士比亞才16,000，狄更斯才50,000，一個英語專業八級的學生，是13,000，而一個受過良好教育的英美國人，詞彙量為25,000。但是詞彙是要積累的，很難想像一個只有5000詞彙的人能翻譯好東西，因為找不到可以用來表達你想表達意思的詞。尤其是做口譯的，沒有一定的詞彙是不行的。要見一詞就有想記住它的慾望。
