作者：施耐庵（1296年—1370年），《水滸傳》的作者究竟是誰具有爭議，目前最廣泛認可的說法認為作者是施耐庵。歷史上還有其它幾種觀點，包括了羅貫中說，施惠說，郭勛託名說，宋人說等。
介紹：《水滸傳》的故事源起於北宋宣和年間，出現了話本《大宋宣和遺事》描述了宋江、吳加亮（吳用）、晁蓋等36人起義造反的故事，成為《水滸傳》的藍本。

瑞典一所鄉村中學，一個老師正在上外國文學，有個學生請老師介紹一下中國的西遊記，老師是這樣向學生解釋的：
故事說的是一個中國的和尚（a bonze）去西方旅遊的經歷（註：《西遊記》英譯為Record of a journey to the west），這種旅遊的性質實質是一種探險。他騎著一匹白色的馬，帶著一位名叫沙僧的僕人。為了打發旅途的寂寞，他還帶了一隻寵物猴和一頭寵物豬上路。
一路上，這個和尚路過許多高山，渡過一些大河大川，受
到許多驚嚇，他走過名叫火焰山的火山口，艷遇過一個只有女孩的女兒國。據說他帶的猴子本領很大，一路上替他掃除許多障礙，其實不過是一隻蠍子、兩只蜈蚣、五隻黃鼠狼、七隻蜘蛛等而已，大的動物有一頭牛、兩只獅子和三頭狼。猴子還有一些讓人不解的行為，比如一發火就燒，一路上燒了幾個山洞、一棵柳樹、還有幾個漂亮的宮殿，還圍著一堆白骨狠打許多遍才罷手。
和尚帶的寵物豬看起來沒什麼作用，只是充當旅途的解悶工具罷了，據說它一口氣吃了四隻西瓜，把和尚、傭人、猴子的一份都吃了，還說它調戲了七隻蜘蛛，被蜘蛛們狠咬了一口。
那個傭人卻什麼用也沒有，整天擔著一副破行李，聽任擺布。
和尚花了十三年才到了印度，尋了一些印度佛經，像得了寶貝一樣凱旋迴國了。
學生們聽罷非常驚訝：一是想不到中國人這么熱衷冒險，二是想不到一千年前中國人就喜歡寵物豬了
