如今想起來，整件事的順利解決，如果說有什麼重要因素，那隻能是——善良。善良是人性中最基本的品格，也是人性里最為樸素的美。只有在善良的土壤里，才能開出一切更為崇高的品德之花。我們不能苛求每一個平凡的人，都用崇高的品德感天動地，但如果我們做到人人心存善良，那麼這個世界就一定會更美好。
人在世上並不是孤立的，除非他過著與世隔絕的生活。既然活在人世間就須與人發生往來，因此就產生處世哲理，各個時代各個民族都因人的需要而發展出約定俗成的處世原則，這些處世原則有其世俗性的價值，但不見得就合乎真理，也不見得就合乎人性(如三從四德)，但卻能在當時廣為人民所接受，表示世間存有著集體的痴情，這些是世間沖突、對立及苦難的根源。
肩負啟迪人類智慧覺性的佛教，教導人與人相處之道及拔除世間紛爭的方法，應值得世人的參考與應用。佛經里有很多地方都探討人際的問題，舉例來說，在《善生經》就談到善生之父教導他：「東方若有眾生者，我盡恭敬供養禮事彼，我盡恭敬供養禮事彼已，被亦當恭敬供養禮事我。」對南西北下上方的人也是同樣互相敬重的態度，善生依教遵行，但不知其由，而佛陀細心引導他東方代表兒女與父母相處之道，南方則代表弟子與師長，西方則代表丈夫與妻子，北方則代表主人與傭人，下方則代表親戚朋友之間，上方則代表施主與修道者，六種不同角色的相處之道。從佛陀引導善生的內容可以看出佛陀照顧到世間人情世故及互相禮敬尊重的溫情，也引導更向上解脫的方向。
