如何指導學生英語閱讀
當前,小學英語教師的英語教學活動中,閱讀教學並沒有發揮其應當具有的作用。教師不是把英語閱讀教學當成一般課文教學,針對英語閱讀教學的現狀,我們要做的確實很多。如何切實培養小學高年級英語閱讀能力,幫助其夯實英語閱讀的基礎是值得我們探討的。下面跟著我一起來看一下如何指導學生進行英語閱讀吧!
【引導學生進行英語閱讀】
一、閱讀材料的選擇是至關重要的。我們應該遵循以下原則:
1.增加趣味,貼近生活的原則
閱讀材料,尤其是適合小學高年級學生的英語閱讀材料,其選材標准應以趣味性為主,並且貼近生活,以激發學生的閱讀興趣,因為”興趣是第二語言學習中最最重要的因素”。我們知道,興趣需要動力來維持。教育心理學家認為,人有追求知識的需要,這種認知需要成為學習活動的重要動力。我們曾選擇過一篇名為fly soup的閱讀材料給學生閱讀,它就具有很強的趣味性, 蒼蠅和湯之間的故事把學生深深地吸引住了。另外,在眾多的精選閱讀材料中,有學生們喜歡的動物故事,the donkey and the salt, two friends and a bear ;有常識性的小短文, roses, be healthy; 有詼諧有趣的小幽默,the french student;有發生在他們周圍的事情,a naughty bog, a letter, a birthday present;也有發生在以前,能讓他們了解過去的人和事的小笑話, to be modest, a big orange and a gold cup等等。各式各樣的,內容豐富多彩的文章,只要學生們有興趣去閱讀,都可以被我們列入考慮范圍之內。
2.難易適度,循序漸進的原則
閱讀材料的難易程度直接影響學生的閱讀心理與情感。而它往往又和生詞量有關,生詞太多,學生讀不懂閱讀材料,達不到訓練的目的,並且還會對閱讀產生畏懼心理而放棄閱讀,給進一步的閱讀教學造成障礙。其次,文章體裁的不同也會對閱讀材料的難易產生影響。故事、童話、幽默小品等形式的閱讀材料往往比較適合於小學高年級的學生。我們首先挑選的全部是熟詞的材料,但裡面的詞語是重新組合搭配的,讓學生在熟詞的新環境中理解體會。
隨後,生詞量一點點遞增,使學生逐漸能閱讀含3%-5%左右生詞量的閱讀材料。讓學生們跳一跳,品嘗到甜美的葡萄。
3.練習適宜,形式豐富的原則
目前的閱讀教材可謂種類繁多,題材廣泛,內容豐富,可練習卻少有突破,比較單一,一般都只在內容和詞彙兩個層次上做閱讀材料,其形式也是以是非題、選擇題、一般疑問句為主。其實,把篇章知識納入閱讀課教材的練習中也是非常有必要。而且,其種類和形式亦是多種多樣的。小組合作完成的對閱讀材料整體理解的'工作單,個人獨立完成的習題,以及組際挑戰所提出並回答的各式各樣的問題。
二、在閱讀能力培養的過程中必須採用行之有效的策略
1.泛讀和精讀相結合的策略
閱讀課常被稱作為泛讀課,顧名思義,泛既是廣的意思,其宗旨就是讓學生進行大量廣泛地閱讀。要提高學生的閱讀能力,首先應使學生具有一定的閱讀量。只有具備了一定的閱讀量,學生才能建立起語感,才能使閱讀上一個台階。這並不是教師在課堂里所能解決的。因為,閱讀能力的培養是一個任重道遠的過程。對於小學高年級學生來說,語言知識與閱讀時間都是有限的。因此,除了布置相適應的閱讀任務以外,在課堂上適度的精讀指導是相當有意義的。閱讀以理解為目的,推理是理解的核心。要培養學生正確理解語篇的能力,教師必須引導學生仔細觀察語言,掌握必需的篇章知識,弄清語言各層次之間的制約關系以幫助他們正確預測,有效推理。教師應該做到精泛結合,使之互為補充,最大限度地提高閱讀課的效率。在閱讀教學的課堂上,我們對詞彙和句型的適度教學能幫助學生更好地理解,這對於小學生來說是不可或缺的一個學習環節。
2.課內與課外相結合的策略
目前,單靠我們的課堂內課本提供的閱讀材料,是遠遠不足以培養學生的閱讀能力的。我們就給學生的閱讀任務做定時定量的要求,以每周兩篇閱讀材料為底線。在要求學生定時定量廣泛閱讀的同時,還要注意閱讀的質量。教師每月挑選出一、二篇較好的閱讀材料,對閱讀材料的句子結構、用詞、習語、詞語搭配等進行簡單的講解,以達到擴充學生語言知識的目的。對於特別精彩的閱讀材料,還可以要求學生復述和背誦。課內課外有機的結合,才可使學生時時處處接觸到英語閱讀。
3.閱讀能力和閱讀習慣相結合的策略
閱讀課的目的是培養學生的閱讀能力。教育心理學認為,能力是順利完成學習和其他活動任務的個性心理特徵。能力的構成要素有知識、技能、熟練、習慣、態度和意志等。英語的閱讀能力包括了快速的瀏覽能力,巧妙的猜詞能力,獨立的分析能力及合乎邏輯的判斷能力。
學生如果具備了這些能力,在閱讀中會游刃有餘,事倍功半。對於小學生而言,英語閱讀能力的培養固然重要,而良好的閱讀習慣的培養亦是不容忽視的。良好習慣的養成會給今後的進一學習打下扎實的基礎。開始我們在課堂上安排固定的時間讓學生閱讀指定的閱讀材料;隨後再可以給學生布置相應的課外閱讀任務,教師定時抽查並與其分享有關閱讀內容,以此提高學生的閱讀興趣,使學生能持之以恆。
三、在閱讀教學活動中要運用形式多樣的教學方法
1.詞語積累的方法
閱讀材料中的詞彙和短語就如同建造房子的磚瓦,沒有磚瓦無法建成高樓大廈,沒有相當量的英語詞彙,閱讀英語是無法進行的。所以要提高閱讀能力,我們就得學會積累詞語。課堂上的識記是必不可少的,在課後閱讀時,遇到生詞盡可能根據上下文來猜,仍猜不出意思的,當然是查詞典了,然後抄寫在一本可隨身攜帶的小本子上。有空時,就拿出這小本子背誦記憶,這樣做不費時不費力,效果卻會意想不到的好。反復的記憶,詞彙量能增加得很快。
2.整體理解的方法
我們自己在閱讀時常有這樣的情況:句子都能看懂,但讀完後對閱讀材料印象卻不深,這就牽涉到對閱讀材料內容和框架結構的整體理解。學生也會遇上此類的問題。那如何學會對閱讀材料的整體理解呢?首先,要重視閱讀材料的題目和首句。題目就是閱讀材料的主題,閱讀材料的內容就是環繞主題展開。首句是閱讀材料的導入,點明閱讀材料的時間、地點、意圖,背景等,也是不容忽視的。而且,我們在閱讀時要養成這樣一個習慣:見了閱讀材料的題目,要停頓一下,想一想,猜一猜,這篇閱讀材料大概寫什麼,然後你便會饒有興趣地讀下去。接著在往下閱讀時特別注意每段的第一句與最後一句,並用心記往,在讀完全文時清晰地將全文的主要內容像看電影似的一幅一幅地印在腦中,記憶很深既把握住了全文的主要內容、論點、論據,又學會了作者的邏輯推理的方法技巧及整篇閱讀材料的框架結構,而這是寫閱讀材料最重要的,也就是閱讀材料的構思。
3.提問互動的方法
從教育學普遍原則的觀點出發,提問是檢測理解與否的主要方式之一。提問可以是單向的,它也可以是雙向的。它可以是教師與學生之間的,亦或是學生和學生之間的。提問可按目標分階段進行。一般可分三個階段:讀前提問、讀中提問和讀後提問。讀前提問的原則是圍繞主題提出一些發散性問題,一般以“wh”問題為主,最大限度地激活學生的有關背景圖式,同時激發他們的認知需求,這是學習動機的一個主要驅動力。讀後提問將學生的理解引向高級階段,即在獲取語篇主要內容的基礎上提出一些判斷、評價性問題,訓練學生綜合概括和進行獨立思考的能力。
4.讀誦結合的方法
閱讀材料的理解是一個相對枯燥的過程,適度的,聲情並茂的朗讀和背誦可以激發小學生的閱讀興趣,當然,在他們聽和讀之中,英語語感得到了培養。另外,部分內容和角色對話的重點朗讀能使學生身臨其境感受,從而加深對內容的理解。復述和背誦,可以鍛煉學生運用自己所學的英語語言,進行分析、歸類和總結。充分調動學生的學習參與性,主動性和創造性。當我們在閱讀a big orange and a gold cup時,學生分角色朗讀不同人物的不同的話語,有的驚訝詫異、有的疑惑不解、有的怒氣沖天、更有的得意洋洋,學生們讀得熱火朝天,猶如自己是閱讀材料中的人物,在不知不覺中加深對閱讀材料的理解。又如,在閱讀be healthy時,我要求學生根據個人的理解進行復述,學生們除了能闡述材料的觀點,還能加上自己的不同的生活實例,運用自己掌握熟練的短語和句型,娓娓道來,具有很強的說服力。
