These days , I am busy preparing my dissertation which is about web usage mining . I read some English pa-pe-rs and learnt much from them . And now , I want to say something about a pa-pe-r titled “Web Usage Mining ：Discovery and Applications of Usage Patterns from Web Data”.
This is the first English pa-pe-r I read about dissertation and gave me great help .
This pa-pe-r is a review about web usage mining. It introced web usage mining in detail . Although it is a little old for it was published in 2000 , its contents are very useful today . It is organized according to the sequence of web usage mining and the six main parts are introction which tells me what is web usage mining , the sources and abstraction of web data , the three steps of web usage mining , taxonomy and project survey , websift overview , privacy issues . The third and fourth parts are most important . It had a list of existing project about web usage mining which I saw many times in other pa-pe-rs , but this pa-pe-r is the one creating this list . Besides , it has been referred for more then twenty times . As we all know that , the higher the referred number is , the more important the pa-pe-r is , so I consider this pa-pe-r to be an important and successful one in this region.
In my opinion , the succeof this pa-pe-r es to three reasons . The first reason is the profound computer knowledge owned by the authors . Web usage mining relates to many subjects , such as artificial intelligence , ontology , semantic analysis , but the most basic knowledge is computer science . The four authors are all professors of department of computer science and engineering in university of Minnesota . For myself , I am not major in computer science and I am not very good at computers , so I feel a little difficult to understand technologies used in this region.

After reading, I think that Rip Van Winkle is a very interesting person. He likes talking with other people. He is good at communicate. So he has finding that it’s fine to stay with others. We must learn this from Rip. Rip also has some bad manners. He doesn’t like working. We mustn’t do as Rip does.

What a great story it is! How exciting the trip under the sea was it! I also want to go with captain Nemo. But I’m afraid that I’m not so lucky as Aronnax. The life under the sea must be nice. There are many coral, water plants, fish, mineral procts in stead of worried and strife. I like that kind of world!

⑵ 怎麼做英語讀書筆記、學詞彙才最有效
首先，閱讀中不會的單詞在原文進行標注，標注方法是只加陰影不寫譯文，便於日後回憶時再次思考，不依賴中文，同時也為了日後想到這個詞，回憶到對應在頁面的哪個位置，強化以及。

How to learn from others is a skill all of us should master , but learning doesn』t mean or plagiary . Other people』s knowledge and proction is just our foundation , upon this foundation , we must have our own thoughts and creation. There are many remarks in this paper where referred other』s proction.
Third , the authors had the experience of developing a web usage mining project . They don』t just engage in idle theorizing , so their comprehension on this issue is greatly profound. They know what we may meet in a real project development and they know how to resolve them . After reading this paper , I also read some other papers written in Chinese . Some of them are not based on real project and can not give useful resolution . Websift is the name of system they developed which can be used to data mining and analysis .
I wrote this article not only because it gave me much help in preparing my dissertation , but also because it tells me how to study and how to do research . Honesty and preciseness are two essential making a researcher must have . Har

網路上有很多記筆記的辦法和學英文的辦法，我看過不少也用了不少，但是很多在實際操作中並不好用，要麼太繁瑣，要麼太零碎，要麼太簡潔，我自己吸收，簡化，運用，摸索，推廣後，從一個天賦一般的普通人（非學霸非學渣）角度出發，我覺得在具體的學習方向和重點，以及細節操作方面，還是能夠有效的讓普通人迅速上手並長期堅持下去的，這也是我一貫以來的特點，閱讀必須分精讀和泛讀，時間規劃怎麼安排，可以每天半小時精讀一小時泛讀，或者一周分七天，工作日五天每天精讀，周六日泛讀，大量閱讀書本，或者做個一年規劃，前半年精讀，後半年泛讀，然後再來個三個月精讀，都可以。

做筆記推薦用excel表格來做筆記，最好用電腦或是kindle來閱讀，而不用紙質書本來閱讀英文，為什麼呢？因為很難做筆記，很難查詞。現在電腦和kindle都帶有自動查詞的動能，（電腦需要自己下載金山詞霸，打開自動取詞），你有不認識的詞，只要把滑鼠或是手指放在不認識的詞彙上，自然會顯示單詞意思。可以添加進單詞本，可供之後復習。
你在抄筆記時候，要先停下來思考一下，為什麼會抄寫呢？是因為這個表達好么？那麼可以替換自己的哪些表達和詞彙呢？如果自己翻譯這個中文，又會用什麼詞呢，會不會用這個英語詞彙呢？長久積累下來，你的寫作和翻譯都會越來越好。
所以，記英語筆記並不是一個被動的，讓你記憶的過程，而是一個你積極主動思考替換的過程。只有加入了你主動的思考，人才會越來越勤奮，越來越聰明，並且，你學習起來也不會感到枯燥無味。

好了，你現在讀完一遍，應該多多少少把握了這篇文章的中心思想和主要內容了（這里請注意你這個把握度能達到多少，這關系著你選擇的材料是否適應你自己的水平。如果只能把握50%以下——即全文一半以上對你來說都不知所雲，那可能是你選得太困難了，降低點標准，找更容易些的文章。反之如果能把握90%以上、基本能無障礙讀懂，那需要考慮適當提高標准）。你現在可以回頭看你做了記號的那些生詞，一個個查字典。如果是非常特殊非常冷門的專業名詞，那就扔一邊吧，你沒專業到要連這些也學。需要進入單詞本記憶的是更實用的'那些單詞。詞典方面，不推薦那種簡單羅列義項的英漢詞典，最好使用帶英英注譯的詞典（BE牛津劍橋，AE韋伯朗文柯林斯，etc。如果嫌翻紙質詞典太花時間，那麼買個包含所需詞典的電子詞典、或者搜個在線版都是可以的）。同時記住，你要做的不是死記硬背中文義項（這樣你以後很容易用錯也很容易遺忘，總之就是不能真正理解單詞），而是從英語的思維角度來分析這個詞——它的本義是什麼？有些什麼衍伸義又為什麼會這樣衍伸？
比如access這個詞，參照柯林斯高階英漢詞典，你會發現它有「進入（權）；通道；入徑」 「查閱（或使用）的機會（或權利）」「接近（或面見）的機會（或權利）」「存取，訪問（計算機信息）」這四個義項。一字一句把這四個義項背下來既煩難也沒有意義。你要做的是概覽和分析這四個義項，可以發現它們的共同點——都是在表述「由外部進入/接近核心部分」這個行為。理解了這一點，自然可以靈活運用這些義項，同時還能順便記住這詞後面的介詞應該用to（因為描述的是一種方向性的動作）。
你也可以先學一點詞根詞綴相關知識，這樣很有利於理解一些比較復雜的復合詞的構造。
3、第三遍，以句為單位的部分精讀。
在理解了需要理解的生詞之後，再回到原文看那些含有生詞的句子。記憶單詞的最好方法永遠不是單個記憶，而是通過上下文記憶。這樣做的好處是：1）有上下文語境可以更方便你的記憶，也便於你以後模仿使用這個單詞和相應的句型；2）還是上一段里說的，方便你從英語的思維角度更准確地理解這個單詞該怎麼用，而不是用中文義項生搬硬套——因為沒有任何兩種語言里的單詞是一一對應的，中文裡一個單詞可能在英文里有好幾個詞分別對應其不同情境下的使用。比如說 Give you a color see see、 給你點顏色瞧瞧。就是一個生搬硬套的例子。
在上述兩遍精讀完畢之後，進行單詞抄寫和記憶。
上述兩遍精讀的目的在於理解和記憶單詞的含義，而抄寫的目的則是為了記憶單詞的拼寫。方法很單純：手抄，口念。一定要一邊寫一邊念出聲，不要害羞。這樣做是為了能從視覺和聽覺兩方面來記憶單詞，更有效。同時英語單詞的發音和拼寫很有關聯性，即使以後你一時忘了，根據讀音也能把拼寫湊個八九不離十。
經過兩遍精讀之後，你對這個單詞長什麼樣子應該已經比較熟悉了（廢話，都看了那麼久了，肯定有印象的啊），所以抄寫次數倒不必太多。我個人習慣是一個單詞抄2—3遍。不必將所有單詞從頭到尾一次性全部抄完，這樣反而容易抄了後面忘前面。比如你可以設3個單詞為一組，抄完3個之後停一下，把這3個單詞重新看一遍，念一遍，腦子里再細細過一遍，確定記清楚了再抄接下來3個。——當然這里還涉及到一天閱讀量和記憶量多少為好的問題，後面再詳說。
4、第四遍，全文精讀/粗讀。
這一遍就看你具體情況了。如果沒太多時間，或者內容不是特別有興趣百讀不厭的，可以只粗略讀一遍就完。主要目的是在你已經把該認識的單詞都認識了的情況下把全文整體流暢地過一遍。如果你對內容特別有興趣很想仔細鑽研，或者很喜歡其文風行筆想多加記憶和模仿——總之，只要你還不厭倦、還有精讀的慾望，那麼可以精讀。

But there are weaknesses in the English gentleman's ability to rule us today. He usually knows nothing of political economy and less about how foreign countries are governed. He does not respect learning and prefers 'sport '.The problem set for society is not the virtues of the type so much as its adequacy for its function, and here grave difficulties arise. He refuses to consider sufficiently the wants of the customer, who must buy, not the thing he desires but the thing the English gentleman wants to sell. He attends anadequately to technological development. Disbelieving in the necessity of large-scale proction in the modern world, he is
passionately devoted to excessive secrecy, both in finance and method of proction. He has an incurable and widespread nepotism in appointment, discounting ability and relying upon a mystic entity called 'character,' which means, in a gentleman's mouth, the qualities he traditionally possesses himself. His lack of imagination and the narrowness of his social loyal ties have ranged against him one of the fundamental estates of the realm. He is incapable of that imaginative realism
which admits that this is a new world to which he must adjust himself and his institutions, that every privilege he formely took as of right he can now attain only by offering proof that it is directly relevant to social welfare.
