Dear Mr. President,

My name is Li Ming. I am a sophomore of the law school. As the school year is drawing to a close, I venture to write a letter to you about the canteen service on campus which has given rise to much complaint among students.

The focus of the complaint is the poor quality of the food. The rice is just like bullets and the buns are like hand grenades. They are too hard for us to chew. And the vegetables are so overcooked as to lose their nutrients. The fish and meat are not given full measure. The only thing we are satisfied with is the free soup. However, the price of the food is surprisingly high. If we have 3 meals all in the canteen, at least twelve yuan is gone to keep our body and soul together. As a result, many of us go out to have meals.

Honestly speaking, the dining environment has been improved, with the wall painted and some Chinese calligraphy works posted up. But there are only two canteens on the campus. As the number of students is ever increasing, there is not enough space and seats to allow us to have our meals there. The attitude of the service staff to the students is not hospitable at all.

All in all, there is still much room for improvement as far as the canteen service is concerned. I hope we will not suffer for another two years.

My view on the Negative Effects of Some Advertisements

範文：

Nowadays ther are a lot of false advertisements in society. They have caused many harms to society. Generally, their harms can be listed as follows.

First, they exaggerate the functions of the goods they advertise and mislead consumers. Second , some advertisements contain obscene contents and bring about spiritual pollution. Third, they seriously damage the credit of businesses because the shops which sell those goods will be distrusted and even considered the conspirators of those advertisers by consumers.

Personally, I am usually vigilant against any advertisements and so I have never been taken in. However, some people are crelous and are easily taken in. Therefore, in my opinion, effective measures must be taken to ban false advertisements and protect consumers' interests. First, all the advertisements must be strictly censored by the authorities concerned before they are published. Besides, severe punishment must be inflicted on those who publish illegal advertisements.

In conclusion, false advertisements must be eliminated in our society.

In other word, we can be well prepared for further challenges in the course of fulfilling small things. By contrast, those who set out to do something big will be constantly haunted by disappointment, frustrations or even failures. As when opportunity 「something big」 appears, they can hardly seize them because of the lack of experience and confidence stems from doing small things. Taking the picture presented above as a case in point, how can the little boy succeed in disposing of nuclear weapons if he even doesn』t know how to empty the stbin?
From my perspective, under no circumstances should we undervalue the power of doing small things. Instead, we should regard small things as the source of experience, skills and the prerequisite of success. 「Great achievement only belongs to those who can do small things perfectly。」 Aristotle once said。

對四級的一些看法

既然時間已經不多了，不提倡純背單詞。根據我以前的經驗，良好的應試技巧可以將分數提高1成左右。下面結合一些多位前人總結

應試技巧：將過去幾年的四級考試題目做一遍。任何模擬題都比不上真題，即便是前幾年的題，總是最接近考試大綱的。特別是詞

匯和語法部分，應該有相當一部分是雷同的，在做題的過程中去記憶單詞比單純被單詞效果要好的多。也就是說你在做那幾套題目

的同時會發現有些詞彙出現的概率遠大於別的詞，那麼這些詞彙就是重點記憶的目標。選擇題只要大致記住單詞的形狀，不需精確

記憶，這就節約了大量的時間。有時間的話可以專門做一些詞彙練習，比如詞彙1200題之類的。

再談談聽力的提高：也是聽過去幾年的聽力試題，在做之前先快速將考題看一遍，做到心中有數，聽的時候就不會慌張，並且有針

對性的去聽，效果會好很多。

閱讀和聽力的技巧大同小異，就是每篇文章先看之前先看2小題的問題，有了大致答題的方向，就不用一字一字看文章，又節約了時

間。注意閱讀每小段的開頭部分，往往是總結了這一段的內容，如果時間來不及，只看每段第一句也會有高高率答對問題。

作文： 推薦考前買或去圖書館借一本寫作類的書，比如《十句作文法》，此書將作文劃分為10句，開頭怎麼寫，結尾怎麼寫都有固

定模式，就好比古代的八股文。可以適當背誦一些經典短句，承接的短語用到自己的作文里，好的開頭和結尾就是成功的一半，畢竟批卷老師不會一字一句看過去。
