- sans-serif
襯線字體以外的一切字體都是無襯線字體。sans- 這個前綴其實是法語，所以比較標準的發音是/san/ 而不是 /sans/。它的意思是「沒有」。所以sans-serif就是無襯線字體。

無襯線字體比較圓滑，線條一般粗細均勻。比較適合用作藝術字、標題等。因為無襯線字體通常粗細比較均勻，所以在小字體顯示的時候，可讀性會降低，容易引起視覺疲勞。
常見的無襯線字體有Trebuchet MS、Tahoma、Verdana、Arial、Helvetica、中文的幼圓、隸書等等。

1、Arial
微軟公司的網頁核心字體之一，是一套隨同多套微軟應用軟體所分發的無襯線體TrueType字型。當字型大小很小時不容易閱讀。
Arial Style雖然比例及字重和Helvetica極其相近，但Arial其實是Monotype Grotesque系列的變種。設計Arial時考慮到會在電腦上面使用，在字體及字距上都作了一些細微的調整和變動，以增加它在電腦屏幕上不同解析度下的可讀性。但是，大寫的「I」和小寫的「l」是無法區別的，你可以考慮用Tahoma字體來替代。
Arial的正確英文發音有很多不同說法。雖然有人習慣讀作 "air-ree-al" ，但其實應該讀作"are-ree-al" 。

2、Verdana
微軟公司的網頁核心字體之一，微軟公司專門為屏幕顯示而開發的。即使字型大小很小，仍有結構清晰、容易辨識等高品質的表現，所以是顯示器中最清晰的字體。我比較喜歡採用10pt的Verdana來做英文正文字體，也推薦大家使用，但字型大小最好介於10~14像素之間，超出這個范圍就不好看了。

3、Georgia
微軟公司的網頁核心字體之一，具有在小字下仍能清晰辨識的特性，可讀性十分優良（比Times New Roman強）。微軟將Georgia列入網頁核心字型，是Windows系統的內建字型之一。是網站設計中，瀏覽效果最好的襯線字體，因為它是專為網上閱讀設計的。

4、Times New Roman
Times New Roman（泰晤士新羅馬），可能是最常見且廣為人知的襯線字體之一，在字體設計上屬於過渡型襯線體，對後來的字型產生了很深遠的影響。另外由於其中規中矩、四平八穩的經典外觀，所以常被選為標准字體之一。是網站瀏覽器默認的字體，12pt以上的字體容易閱讀，但小字型大小的字體易讀性差。

5、Trebuchet MS
微軟公司的網頁核心字體之一，與Arial相似，但比Arial看起來優雅、古典一點。可以用來做標題，但小字型大小閱讀起來會很困難，低於13pt閱讀起來就很累了，不太推薦用來做正文字體）。

6、Courier New
微軟公司的網頁核心字體之一，老式列印機字體，有一種獨特的機械工整感覺。由於可以輕易的對齊欄位的左右邊界，因此是程序員寫代碼時最常用的等寬字體。12pt的Courier New字體曾是美國國務院的公文標准字體，但於2004年1月停用，改使用14pt的Times New Roman，因為其具「現代性」和「易讀性」。

7、 Impact
微軟公司的網頁核心字體之一，Impact是1965年發表的一個無襯線字體，字體較為粗獷，其特粗的筆畫、緊縮的間距適合使用在標題上，而不常用在正文。

8、Comic Sans MS
微軟公司的網頁核心字體之一，手寫體。這是一種爭議很大的字體，說實話，我也不喜歡這個字體，一點美感都沒有，不過在一大堆規規矩矩的字體裡面，有這么一個隨意性比較的字體，可以變換一下口味，也算不錯吧，建議不要用在正規的金融、政府、商業機構站點。
