如果想按照教材教授,那麼你根據教材和參考書,網上查一版些資料就可以了,但權是學生的寫作水平不會有太大提高。因為所謂的高級寫作,是在假定大部分學生的寫作水平已到中級水平的基礎上進行的。而事實上往往寫作是學生們最薄弱的環節,甚至有的大學生的英語寫作水平連普通高中生都不如,更有甚者,寫一個完整的句子都困難。這就像是一個還不會走路的孩子,你打算教他跑步的技巧一樣,效果不會太好。
如果你想切實提高學生的寫作水平,就要跳出教材,跳出所謂的「高級寫作」,結合學生的實際情況,降低標准和要求。不妨先布置一篇難度不太大的作文讓學生做,摸摸他們的寫作基礎到底如何,再糾正或展開講授比較集中的問題,一步一步增加難度慢慢提高。這樣學生會覺得你講的很實在,跟著你能有提高(盡管可能達不到所謂的高級標准)。當然這樣做你是比很辛苦,基本上每次課都要設定針對性的練習給學生,並且最好認真批改以確定下節課要講授的重點。這恐怕不是大學教授講師們的習慣做法。

3. 分組互相寫信
這是個關注交流性和創新性的活動,教學目的是讓學生熟悉寫作的正式和非正式文體。於是我用了當時很紅的文章事件,將學生分為不同的組,分別以文,馬,姚的身份給公眾和自己比較親密的人寫信,後來再安排回信,用寫作對象的不同讓學生明白文體的差異,而且因為大家都熟悉事件本身,所以寫得不亦樂乎。
