英台：「 Where there is a will there is a way, you know?哼」跺腳＋生氣的走掉
After coming home, she feels so angry and discontented. She takes a can of spray paint, sneaks into the school and is dying to… that』s right, she spray paints the wall, until the can runs out of paint. She stops painting and feels tired. As she readies to home, she drops her handkerchief to the floor but doesn』t realize this.

D. 大學英語課程到底要「教什麼」「怎麼教」

近年來，對於大學英語改革的呼聲越來越高。蔡基剛的調研顯示，62%的學生認為他們的英語水平在大學沒有任何提高，甚至有36.2%的學生認為其英語水平跟中學時候相比，沒有提升，反而下降了。大學英語課程到底要「教什麼」「怎麼教」？
高等教育的發展和高校不同程度的擴招，使得高校生源更加廣泛，也帶來學生英語水平的多元化。有些學生在高中階段就達到大學英語四級統考水平；有些學生，特別是擴招生、特長生以及來自邊遠地區的學生英語基礎薄弱。而教師的課堂教學往往主要考慮中間水平的學生，兩頭的學生需求只是兼顧，導致「好學生」不能更拔尖、「差學生」不能有提高，影響了教學效果。「齊步走」「一刀切」的英語教學方式需要改變了。
中國地質大學(北京)外國語學院的學者劉偉，郭曉暹提出，大學英語教學須多樣化和個性化。在漢斯出版社《創新教育研究》期刊上，學者們還詳細闡述了多樣化與個性化的大學英語課程該如何設置。
開展分級教學
根據《指南》對大學英語教學目標分成的基礎、提高、發展三個等級，將大一新生在入學時進行分級考試，分三級開展大學英語教學。分別制訂差異化的教學目標、教學內容、評估標准，規范分級的標准和依據、課堂管理，配備合理的師資等。由於目前 1 年制的大學英語教學模式已經被學生認可，2個學期的英語教學時間內不建議採取動態的管理機制，即不建議各級別學生在2個學期內有級別上的流動。從調查數據中看只有不到30%的同學願意分級教學，10%多的同學認為教學內容或易或難，所以建議基礎、提高、發展三個級別的比例為10%、70%、20%為宜。
訓練自主學習
自主學習的能力是大學英語學習中不可或缺的能力。調查中發現87%的學生希望教師在課堂講解字詞、語法，75%的學生不能完成課後學習任務，72%的學生希望老師能監督其自主課堂的學習。這都充分說明，很多大學生缺乏主動學習的能力，缺乏合理安排時間的習慣。建議在大學英語課程中增加學習策略的培訓，養成學生反思性學習的習慣，形成師生共同遵循周計劃、月計劃的教學模式。大學英語教學不同於中學英語的「題海戰術」「保姆式服務」，它更多的要求學生能夠在教師這個課程設計師的策劃下，合作性、創造性地主動學習。
開設後續英語課
大學英語課程不止是一門課，而是一個課程體系。課題組的調查顯示，高達89%的學生不認可大學英語教學質量，認為對自己的英語水平沒有提升。可見，大學英語課堂需要後續課程來補充和完善。非英語專業大學生英語學習可分為三個階段：通用英語階段、橋梁課程階段(ESP、學科英語或大學英語通識教育課程)和全英語/雙語專業課程階段。另外，還可以開設聽說讀寫譯技能類的後續英語課程。
豐富課後教學活動

有一家出售布丁的商店，每年聖誕期間都把許多這類美味的食品擺成一排供顧客選購。在這里你可以挑選最合你口味的布丁。甚至商店還允許你先把各色布丁品嘗一番，然後再作出決定。

我常常納悶，會不會有一些根本無意購買的人，利用這一優惠趁機揩油。有一天，我向女店員提出了這一問題，從她那兒得知事情果真如此。

「有這樣一位老先生，比如說，」她告訴我。「他差不多每個星期都要到這兒來，每隻布丁他都要嘗一嘗，盡管他從來不買什麼東西，而且我猜想他永遠也不會買。我從去年，甚至前年就記住他了。唉，要是他想品嘗就讓他來吧，歡迎他來品嘗。而且，我希望有更多的商店可以讓他去品嘗。他看上去似乎確實有這種需要，我想這點小意思他們是不在乎的。」

就在她講這話的時候，一位上了年級的先生一瘸一拐地走到了櫃台前，開始對著那排布丁興致勃勃地仔細看了起來。

「喏，這就是剛剛對你說起的那位先生，」女店員輕聲對我說。「現在你就看著他好了。」接著她就轉過身去對老人說道：「先生，您想品嘗這些布丁嗎？您可以用這把調羹。」

有一點自始自終很明顯：他真誠地相信自己最終也許會買一隻布丁；而我也確信，他一點也不覺得自己是在欺騙商店。可憐的老頭兒！很可能他已經家道敗落。從前他是有錢來選購他最喜歡的布丁的，而今卻只能這樣來品嘗一下布丁的味道了。

顧客個個喜形於色，為聖誕節忙著采購商品，看上去都很富裕。老人矮小的黑色身影在這群人中間顯得很可憐，很不相稱。我突然動了惻隱之心，走到他跟前說：

「請原諒，先生，能賞我個臉嗎？讓我為您買一隻布丁吧。如果您肯收下，我將不勝欣慰。」

他往後一跳，彷彿被什麼東西螫了一下似的，他那張布滿皺紋的臉頓時漲得通紅。

「對不起，」他說，其神態之高傲，遠非我根據外表所能想像得出：「我想我跟您並不相識。無疑您是認錯人了。」於是他當機立斷，轉向女店員，大聲說道：「勞駕把這只替我包紮一下。我要帶走的。」他指了指最大的也是最貴的一隻布丁。

女店員從架子取下那隻布丁，動手包紮。這時，他掏出一隻破舊的黑色小皮夾子，開始一個先令一個便士地數著硬幣，把它們放在櫃台上。為了保住「面子，」他被迫買下了他實在買不起的東西。我多麼希望能收回我那些不得體的話啊！然而為時已晚，我感到此時唯有走開才是最積德的事。

「請您到那邊帳台上去付款。」女店員告訴他，但他好像沒有聽懂，只管把硬幣往她手裡塞。打這以後我再也沒有看到這位老人，也沒有聽到過有關他的情況。現在他再也不會到那家商店去品嘗布丁了。
