一、私立廈門大學
1919年8月，陳嘉庚在上海聘任全國教育界名流蔡元培、黃炎培、汪精衛、余日章、郭秉文、胡敦復、黃琬、葉淵、鄧萃英等10人為籌備員。
1919年10月召開私立廈門大學籌備委員會第一次會議，擬訂《廈門大學組織大綱》，會議推舉鄧萃英為廈門大學首任校長、鄭貞文為教務長、何公敢為總務長。
