卡尔想了很多种把这个讨厌的小孩从飞屋丢下去的方法。但在他付诸实施之前，飞屋飞进了一个风暴云团，艾丽的很多遗物掉下去了，卡尔手忙脚乱的保护这些东西……卡尔醒来之后，“偷渡客”小罗告诉仙境瀑布卡尔，他的GPS可以帮助他们飞到“仙境瀑布”，不过卡尔还是割掉几个气球，准备降落并把小罗送上回家的汽车。就在这时意外发生了，浓雾中已经接近地面的飞屋撞上巨石，房子虽然躲过一劫，但卡尔和小罗都被抛了下去。眼看飞屋就要飘走，卡尔用水管套住了它，接着飞屋拖着他一直到了悬崖才停住，卡尔这才发现，“仙境瀑布”就在眼前（如右图）。从这里开始两个人开始拉着飞屋步行前进（他们随后来到了丛林里面）。那天晚上，小罗跟卡尔谈到了自己的家境……在丛林里，卡尔和小罗遇到了新的朋友——长着长长红色的喙的一只色彩斑斓的大鸟（就是探险家蒙兹发现的新物种），这只鸟真的很大，还喜欢吃巧克力，小罗给它起名叫凯文(Kevin) ，鸟很喜欢小罗，但不太喜欢卡尔；接着两人又遇到了第二个朋友——会说话的狗“逗逗”(Dug)，说这只狗会说话并不确切，实际上是狗脖子上戴的项圈能把狗的想法通过人类语言表达出来，之后他们来到一个峡谷，那里有好几只狗出场，两只斗牛犬，一只杜宾犬（后面陆续还有其他很多狗出场，这些狗都和蒙兹有关）。
随后，爷俩被带到一个飞艇里，他们发现这个飞艇的主人居然就是探险家查尔斯·蒙兹，他的目的是抓住大鸟，证明自己。
得知蒙兹为达到目的会不择手段后，爷俩抢先逃跑。在把大鸟放回家时，蒙兹赶到并带走了大鸟……然后，爷俩就和蒙兹展开了搏斗，要救出大鸟。但蒙兹从飞艇中放出飞机，干扰飞屋前行……
搏斗过后，蒙兹和飞屋都坠下云层。而爷俩和大狗在和大鸟道别后，驾驶着蒙兹的飞艇回到了城市，小罗也获得了由卡尔奖励的徽章，三“人”成了形影不离的好朋友，过着幸福快乐而惬意的生活（就像小罗在跟卡尔谈家境时描述的那样）。而他们的飞屋最终随气球独自飘落在“平顶山脉”的仙境瀑布边上（而蒙兹下落不明），实现了艾丽和卡尔一生的梦想
