一、跳过空格,了解大意。
解题时先跳过空格,通读完形填空的短文,了解全专篇的内容和要旨。要重视首句,善属于以首句的时态、语气为立足点,理清文脉,推测全文主题及大意。
二、复读短文,判断词形。
把握短文大意后再认真复读短文,利用上下文的语境,结合所学过的知识,先确定空格处所需词语的意义,再根据空格在句子中的位置,判断其在句中充当的成分,从而确定所填词的词性,再依据词语搭配和语法规则,判断所填的词的正确形式。
三、三读短文,验证答案。

许多学生经常会忽略或意识不到这一步的重要,其实,通过最后一遍的通读,可以通过语感分析出选项是否与语境相吻合,是否与原文协调一致,是否符合应有的逻辑关系。这样看来,这一遍绝对是重中之重、不可或缺的。

牢记完型填空中的固定搭配
固定搭配是专升本完型中的必考题型,它要求考生对于一些常用的英文惯用表达法进行必要的识记。此类题型灵活度较低,复习起来相对较有针对性。不过,在这里考生要避免进入一个误区,那就是将过多的时间和精力花费在固定表达法的识记上。事实上,如果时间允许,将固定搭配一字不差地背下来固然不失为一种有效的手段。但是若时间有限,上述方法显然不是切实可行的,因为它很有可能会由于占用了过多的时间而打乱你整个的备考方案。这里老师需要提醒考生注意的是,对于专升本的完型我们的目标有且只有一个,那就是:得分!换而言之,就是勾对选项。记住:没有人强迫你把惯用表达法记得毫厘不差,这是不需要,也是不必要的。你只要对一些常考的固定搭配有一个较为深刻的印象即可。比如说,in much the ____ way as,后面给出四个选项A) familiar B)similar C) same D) identical。对于此题,你只要平时对in much the same way as这样的固定表达法有一个较深刻的印象,你就会发现C) 选项比其它选项拥有更高的辨识度,说的通俗一些就是它看上去更顺眼。为什么顺眼?因为你平时经常看到它,尽管你也许不能一字不差地默写下来。所以对于这样的题型你无须强行记忆,当然更不必去区分各个选项之间单词的异同。
注重完型填空中的逻辑链接
完型填空的解题原则是以上下文的内容为衡量标准。有不少题目在设计上非常注重干扰项在语法结构上的合理性,使四个选项在语法上均无懈可击。还有的干扰项从局部角度讲可以被认可,例如在短语或单句层面上符合习惯搭配或逻辑表达。但当这些词置于全文大背景中便显出破绽:要么前后矛盾,要么与主题不相关。由此可见,短文本身是一个篇整体,在解题中千万不能脱离上下文去"就事论事"。相反,小圈子里的疑团解不开时,放眼"外围"语境,或许能得到意外的惊喜,甚至是现成的答案。
完型填空是将语法和词汇题放在语篇中考,所以与单纯的语法题和词汇题不同。考生在备考时不但要花力气去背记语法要点和积累词汇,还要注意单词在使用中的搭配习惯和用法上各自不同的特点及同义词之间的差别等。另外,还要学会通过语境暗示推断词义和连词的用法,及词与词、句与句、段与段之间的关系(到底是并列、选择、转折还是递进、让步、因果等)。
(1)名词、动词、形容词、非关联性副词间的衔接
在词汇的基本搭配中,主要的关系有两种:动词关系和修饰关系。动词关系是指动词和名词构成主谓或动宾关系。汉语中有"龙腾虎跃"、"鸡飞狗跳"、"人仰马翻"等说法,然而如果是把里面的名词交换的话,那就贻笑大方了。而修饰关系则是指形容词修饰名词或是副词修饰动词等。例如说,"狐假虎威"、"猪卑狗险"、"轩鹤冠猴"等说法中如果是把修饰的对象交换的话,也是驴唇不对马嘴了。而在英语中,这样的搭配关系只是以另一种文字呈现出来,反倒是使得很多考生就束手无策了。
(2)用复杂成分替换简单思路后的衔接
专升本完型的难度很大程度上就来自于其命题思路的复杂化,专升本英语的句子多以结构多样的复杂句为主,即便是简单句也会出现复杂的修饰成分,如介词短语、分词结构、不定式为主,从而使得专升本英语的难度进一步增大。而在完型中考生往往留心到词语间的搭配或是句子间的关系,但却容易忽略上述复杂化结构在句子中的作用以及和空格内容的联系。因此在判断过程中不妨留意空格周围的介词短语、分词结构、不定式甚至是从句,尤其是定语从句和同位语从句更直接起到了限定的作用。
(3)并列结构的衔接
众所周知,用连词,如and,or可以将类似结构的内容并列在一起,而and更是要求并列的内容具有一致性。因此在空格周围出现and的并列结构时,并列的内容往往是推论正确答案的线索。
(4)句子间的衔接
句子间的衔接实际上就是考察考生对于句子含义的理解和进而推断句子间关系的能力。而很多考生常常分不清if only和only if,尽管它们几乎从没被选到过。很多考生也分不清even if和even though,其实它们没有区别;更有考生分不清as if和even if,这就在考试中造成了很多的困扰。因此明确常见的四类关系,解决专升本完型的句子衔接,也就不在话下了。这四类关系是:附加,如furthermore, moreover, in addition等;反向,如although , whereas,even if, on the contrary等;因果,如because , so ,consequently , as a result等;时间,如while, since, before等。

第一:快速通读全文(scanning),在你scanning的时候,尤其注意首句,因为首句一般都不挖空,通过首句往往能很快把握Topic,Keywords,除此之外,就是每段首尾句,把上述几句话归纳一下,就知道文章大概了.另外就是要注意文章中的关联词,如although,but,however,unlike,这些词是前后对比,语境转折的重要标志,也是把握全文逻辑的重要标识.最后,就是在第一次快速浏览全文的时候,先把那些一看就有90%的把握的空都做了,尤其是对于那些逻辑关联词,或者带有感情色彩的空,更应该在第一步解决,这是因为你第一篇通读的时候,你对全文的行文逻辑,和作者的感情色彩(褒,贬,中肯,)的把握应该是比较准的,越往后做越迷茫,就不好了.在你还没有掌握逻辑的时候去做题,容易犯断章取义,以偏概全的毛病.
第二,在弄清楚全文行文脉络之后,就可以开始做题了,做题的时候要学会应用“语境分析法,细节分析法”,也就是说,完形填空不仅仅考查语法知识,而且还对考生的逻辑思维的连续性有较高的要求.因此,当语法和语境冲突的时候,语法应酌情服从语境.完形填空每句话之间的逻辑关系都是缜密的:并列关系,递进关系,转折关系……前一句是后一句的条件,原因,结果,假设,补充说明,进一步解释…………这些关系是你做好完形填空的基础.在这些关系中,你往往能通过上一句的谓语,或者主语,找到下一个空所需的信息词,这就是所谓的“细节分析法”.根据文章作出选择,考虑贯穿全文的线索.完形填空所考的内容,集中在实词,如名词、动词、形容词、副词.做题的时候,不能单纯考虑这些词的区别,一定要结合文章中具体的事件,在文章中体会这些词的意义.即做题的时候,应该入境,去体会主人公的所做所想.
第三,当你把大部分的空都干掉了之后,还剩下几个空,也要联系上下文语境去解题,以及带上作者的感情色彩去做题,否则很容易出错!(连环错)
第四:最后就是带着作者的感情色彩以及全文的行文逻辑去检查每个空,看那几个空不符合作者的感情色彩,或者行文思路,发现后,好好斟酌

短期内提高英语完形填空水平可以通过以下方法,
第一步:“总”。速读全文,把握大局。用2-3分钟,以略读方式快速浏览全文,主要目的是了解文章的体裁和题材,从整体上把握全文内容和结构框架,找出文章的主题、大意,作者的观点、态度、思路,文章展开的线索,句与句,段与段之间的逻辑关系,以及文章的语言风格或特点。
第二步:“分”。逐句通读全文,但是先不要看四个选项,做到通读与猜测并行。另外,千万不要拘泥与题目顺序,这一步解题过程可以针对不同情况分三轮解题,通俗地讲,就是好做的先做,不会的留到下一轮。
第一轮,对含义明显的词汇,固定搭配或习惯用法,常用句式等纯语言知识问题,可以边读边随时猜测出答案,包括介词的用法,倒装句、虚拟语气等固定的句型或语法。
第二轮,针对在通读过程中未能轻易猜测出答案的题目。这类题目的答案,不仅仅取决于对文章局部的理解,而是要在对语篇理解的基础上,利用上下文中字里行间的线索才能猜测出答案。此时,应该先看清题区的句法关系,辨别句子是简单句、并列句还是主从复合句,并根据语法判断词性,然后根据学生自己的生活常识、背景知识与文章主题,猜测该词或短语的语义范围。
第三轮,集中突破前两轮未能解出的题目。在前两轮的基础上,针对最后难关,直接对照选项,利用前两轮已填入的选项缩小填空范围,采用排除法,排除不恰当的选项,最后敲定答案。
