课文的整体阅读教学是把课文当作一个整体来让学生感知,把课文作为一个不可分割的独立整体,要求先把学生的注意力引导到整体内容上,启发学生学习兴趣,创造传授知识和语言技能训练的语言环境,吸引学生进入交际角色,使课文教学作为教师、学生互相作用的积极过程。在学生对课文进行整体感知的基础上,运用各种方法加强学生的课文内容,基础知识,基本语法,听、说、读、写综合训练,从根本上提高学生的阅读能力以及综合语言知识的能力。下面是有关阅读教学的几个步骤:

兴趣是一个人热爱、向往追求某物的心理状态,是他或她希望达到目标的精神力量。从中学生的心理特征出发,要使学生对阅读感兴趣,教师要精心选择一些浅显的科普读物,简易的文学作品或幽默丰趣的短文。在选择材料时要注意由浅入深,由易到难。在阅读中通过教师的不断引导就能一步一步地提高学生的阅读兴趣,提高学生的阅读能力。

作品选好后,还要注意培养学生掌握一定的阅读技巧和方法。以下是几点阅读的技巧和策略:

One doesn't even need to look to esoteric, specialist discussion to realise that language is a facilitator of the flow of power. It is a substrate that links people, and allows them to co-ordinate and construct systems, ideas based on groups rather than indivials.
Every word in a language is a "term". Every word has both meaning and assumption. And this is why language barriers are more than mere communication barriers, and why something is always "lost in translation". A language has society and emotion in its very essence. It evolves as a people evolves. To understand a language, then, is to live within it and its culture. This is where swear words get their power from, why politicans squabble over the meaning of their soundbites, and why media is in a constant emotional struggle, rather than being able to stick to pure "fact". Indifference is next to impossible, because language itself is not grown that way.

You have heard it said, “Knowledge is power,” but this is only true if you have the ability to unpack your knowledge and put it to action. Knowledge is power, but we need language to effectively communicate what we know and how we know it. Language is power because language is communication. Not having a good control of the language will often discredit a person who is otherwise very intelligent. An effective communicator is able to get what he/she wants through the control of the language. Language is how we express our ideas. Language is how we are able to reconcile a disagreement through discussion. We can use language to manipulate others, or use it to bring enlightenment. We use language to sell ourselves, our procts, and our ideas. The greater command we have of language, the greater we will be at self-expression. Additionally, with a greater command of language we will be able to understand others and help others to understand ourselves.
Imagine yourself dropped into a country with a completely unfamiliar culture and a completely unknown language to you. Imagine the helpless state you would be in. You might be able to use hand signals or charades, but think of how limited that would be. Not only would the population seem strange to you, but you would be strange to them as well. Would they trust you? How could you communicate to them you were friendly? What if you did something that was offensive in their culture? You’d have no way of knowing unless you could understand their language. This is an extreme example, but it reveals how vital the ability to express yourself clearly is in regards to becoming successful in all areas: politics, careers, and relationships. In order to have trust with anyone, we must learn to “speak their language.” Before I finished college, I spent many years working at a university as a custodian. The facilities department constantly changed its policies, and our boss, who was college ecated, would come and tell us about the new expectations, the reasons for the changes, etc. After her speech I would often have half the crew come to me and ask me what she meant, because she often spoke at a level that was over their ecation. With my background, I was able to understand my boss, and communicate what she said to my coworkers at their level of understanding.
A larger vocabulary gives us more creative ways to express ourselves. It also enables us to be more clear and precise in what we mean. However, a good command of the language is also knowing when to use the vocabulary we have. When I finally made it to college, I was exposed to a lot of new words, a lot of big words that I had to use in my papers if I wanted to make the grade, and those words eventually seeped into my everyday speech. That was good when I was in class or when I was in a discussion about some deep issue or world issue with a professor or college peer, but I found that when I talked to some friends who had not the desire or financial means for college, I came across as arrogant. If the purpose of communication is to get our neighbors to understand our point of view or to come to a new understanding about something we feel is important then we need to be careful not to win an argument with big words, but to speak in a way which they can understand what is said so they will be able to make their own judgment about the facts or truth you believe you are presenting. The power of language is not just in knowing words and knowing how to use words effectively, but also being able to speak and communicate at various levels, and knowing when it is needed to do so.

10. 如何提高英语的阅读能力

高中英语阅读教学是高中英语教学中极为重要的部分。我们英语教学的目的就是要培养学生独立阅读能力和应用语言的能力。而且,在近几年的高考试题中阅读理解能力题占60%,这就进一步要求我们在教学中必须注意培养学生英语阅读理解能力。

1、充分利用教材中的课文进行阅读训练,改革课堂教学结构,使精读与泛读紧密结合,强调独立阅读课文,旨在形成能力,每教一篇新课文时,先让学生用10-20分钟进行快速阅读,同时做课文的理解题,然后,再按精读要求,给学生指定段落,让他们自己研究主要语言点,鼓励他们提问和讨论,以求弄懂。精读也全是由学生自己去研读,改变了那种课堂中从泛读到精读,全由教师包讲到底的局面,使学生自学能力得到提高。

2、每课时抽出10分钟进行听力和快速阅读训练。选用150个词左右、难度适中的短文,?再加5-10个理解检测题,让学生在限定时间内迅速读完全文,完成阅读理解题。然后检查阅读速度和理解准确率,进行辅导讲评。

3、开展课外阅读活动。要提高学生的阅读能力和自学能力只进行快速阅读训练是不够的。?以每周1000个词来计算,学生一个学期只能完成1-1.5万个词的阅读量,不足以便学生从中获取到独立阅读英语文章的基本技巧。所以,除快速阅读外,我还开展了课外阅读活动,目的在于增加阅读量。向学生提供较多而且题材较广的短小成篇的阅读材料,并要求学生相互交换各自的不同阅读材料,要求每人每天课外阅读600个词的短文,?这样,既增加了阅读量,又扩大了学生的知识面,提高了学生的阅读兴趣。

4、认真选好读物。读物的选择对阅读的效果起着重要作用。如果读物选择不当,就会影响学生的阅读兴趣。因此,我在选择读物时尽量选一些内容健康,思想性强的文章。使学生在发展阅读能力的同时,受到了潜移默化的思想品德教育。而且所选读物内容广泛、新颖,体裁和题材多种多样,语言质朴生动,引人入胜,寓学习于消遣之中,所以学生读起来爱不释手,增强了学生的阅读兴趣。

最重要的是我所选材料适合学生的实际知识水平,难度与课文相当,内容尽可能与课文相联系,生词率控制在2--3%,难易适当,使学生读得轻松愉快,在快乐中获得知识,增强了他们搞好阅读的信心。

5、阅读要讲求效率。效率体现在阅读速度和阅读能力两个方面,读速的提高与读量是密切相关的。阅读要以量求质。我给学生定的阅读总量为40万个词左右,?每天坚持10分钟,读速定为60wPM左右。要求准确理解率达70%以上,实践证明,一般水平的学生通过努力是不难达到这个指标的。

6、把阅读的辅导落到实处。阅读基本上是在课外进行,以学生自学为主教师辅导为辅,但是没有得力措施就很难保证持续地开展。为了扎扎实实地搞好阅读,除对读量、读速严格要求并记录在案进行评比以外,我主要对学生的阅读方法和技巧进行了指导。

A、指点学生养成正确的阅读习惯。实验初期,我发现有些学生在阅读过程中往往带有一些不良习惯。如有的学生阅读时爱出声;有的学生用笔和尺之类的东西指点着助读;有的用眼不科学,每次只能看到一个单词;有的则咬文嚼字,边读边查词典,一词一句地分析;有的学生“回视”的现象太严重,在阅读时,眼睛往往往回看,重读一个词、短语、一个句子,不仅影响读速而且不利于把握整个句于、段落、全句的意义。我帮助学生逐步改掉了这些不良习惯,使他们养成了良好的默读习惯。帮助他们尽力减少眼停次数,扩大规力范围,能在单位时间里捕捉更多的语言信息。

B、指点学生阅读时抓住文中重点段,段中主题句和句中的关键词。教给学生根据上下文猜测词、句意义的办法。阅读中难免碰上生词,让学生碰到生词不惊慌,因为它不是孤立存在的,而是可以通过一定线索或可根据构词法、同义词、反义词、等同关系、因果关系或上下文暗示猜出词义。

C、指点学生“依纲”阅读。这个纲就是文章的理解题,每篇材料都配有相应的阅读理解题,既可以做为理解检查题,又可做为阅读的提纲。一般的学生都是先阅读短文,再看问题,回头看短文,然后做选择答案。我指导学生的另一种做法是先看问题,后读短文,再做选择答案,这样使学生的阅读速度大大地提高了。
首先,我们要对“阅读理解能力”及对四级阅读理解的具体要求作一定的了解。教学大纲要求 “较强的阅读能力”包括较快的阅读速度和较强的理解能力。所谓“较强的理解能力”,在四级统考中主要体现在阅读理解部分重点测试的下述四种能力:

1.掌握所读材料的主旨和大意。
2.了解说明主旨和大意的事实和细节。
3.既理解字面的意思,又能根据所读材料进行一定的判断和推论。
4.既理解个别句子的意义,又理解上下文的逻辑关系。

大学英语四级考试的5个项目中,大多数考生感到发怵的是阅读理解部分。一接触阅读理解,考生即有一种谈“读”色变、茫然无措的感觉。这主要说明考生对阅读理解的有关事项并不熟悉,因而影响了考生阅读理解水平的发挥,进而也限制了考生英语综合能力的提高。

大学英语教学的主要目的是培养学生具有较强的阅读能力,一定的听的能力,以及初步的写和说的能力,使学生能以英语为工具,获取本专业所需要的信息,并为进一步提高英语水平打下较好的基础。由此可见,阅读在大学英语学习中是何等的重要。为体现教学大纲的这一主导思想,大学英语四级考试把阅读理解放在了重中之重的位置,此项分值占40%,实为考生通过英语四级的关键所在。

阅读理解部分一般为四篇短文,每篇250到300字,加上其后的5个问题,平均400到450字,总阅读量1800字上下;共回答20个问题。阅读理解部分的答题时间为35分钟,每篇平均8分45秒。教学大纲规定四级阅读速度每分钟50—80个英语单词,因此,四级统考中的阅读量与用时安排和教学大纲的要求完全一致。

根据四级考试大纲的规定,阅读理解部分四篇短文的选材遵循如下三个方面的原则:

1.题材广泛。可以包括人物传记、社会、文化、日常知识、科普常识等,在实考中已经出现或可能出现的题材还有环境保护、交通运输、最新科技成果、历史事件、重大时事等等。但是,短文所涉及的背景知识应能为考生所理解。

2.体裁多样。可以包括记叙文、描述文、说明文和议论文4种,而实考体裁多为说明文和议论文。

3.文章的语言难度中等。无法猜测而又影响理解的关键词,如超出教学大纲四级词汇表的范围,用汉语注明词义。

鉴于此,考生平时应大量阅读,尽可能熟悉各种题材和不同体裁的英语文章,熟记考试大纲规定的四级词汇,以减少阅读中的词汇障碍。这样,考生才能做到心中有数,从容应试。

前文中提到,大学英语教学的主要目的是培养学生具有较强的阅读能力,英语四级考试阅读理解部分正是具体检测学生的这种能力。所谓较强的阅读能力,包括阅读速度和阅读理解两个方面。在35分钟内完成1700字的阅读量并答完20个小题,没有较快的阅读速度,不能在规定时限中读完全部材料,势必影响阅读甚至其它部分的答题效果。纵观历次四级统考,一般的考生做阅读理解时均超过35分钟,说明考生的阅读速度与大纲要求尚有一定的差距。

要提高阅读速度,必须从平时就养成正确、良好的阅读习惯,努力克服掉阅读过程中影响速度的各种习惯性做法。这些做法主要包括:

1.用手或笔指着材料阅读。大部分考生都有这种不良习惯,在平时的阅读训练中务必用心更正。

2.轻声或无声的逐字阅读。朗读是加强语感、提高应用能力的重要途径,但在应试中,相当一部分考生进行无声的“朗读”当然就大大减慢了阅读速度。平时,要尝试精泛搭配、快慢结合的阅读练习,尽力扩展视幅(eye span),即单位时间进入眼睛的阅读量。

3. 重复阅读。由于精力不集中或遇到单词障碍,考生往往就文中个别字词或句子来回读几遍,越读越急,越急越弄不懂含义。这就要求考生在平时的阅读中,不要逢生词就查字典,尽量通过分析构词法和上下文猜测词义。在考试中,考生必须保持平和的心态,全神贯注,学会抵抗各种干扰,避免由于分心造成的重复阅读而影响阅读速度的现象

4.译读,即在阅读过程中,不断地进行膛词逐句的翻译,通过译成母语来辅助理解。由于没有掌握正确的阅读方法,习惯于在不加限定的时间内,对一小块文章精雕细琢,导致了逐词阅读接受信息的习惯。

阅读理解部分是分数大项,考生在这一方面得分不高,除了上面提到的阅读速度问题之外,还有其它一些消极因素影响考生的应试效率:

1.对生词有畏惧心理。这说明考生单词记忆不牢固,对四级大纲中的多义词只知其一,不知其二。对超纲词或大纲中的难词望而生畏、手足无措。其实,这类词也许不会形成语篇理解上的障碍,不会影响答题。考生必须头脑清醒,对所谓的生词有个正确的认识。

2.缺乏对语言的整体把握。这说明考生语法结构方面并不熟练,因而对文中句与句之间、段与段之间的逻辑关系搞不清楚。

3.综合概括能力欠佳。尤其对于并无明显主题句的段落,要通过微观审视,从宏观上把握其中心思想,领会作者的意图。

4.不熟悉题型、命题形式和解题方法。

5.在个别题项上耗时太多。这是考生极易犯的毛病,不仅在阅读理解方面,在其它任何题型上均会如此。应试中,考生务必衡量单个题项的分值,统筹兼顾,全盘考虑,避免只见树木不见森林,捡了芝麻丢了西瓜。

6.阅读方法与答题步骤欠妥。做阅读理解题时,切忌拿来就读,逐字逐句地研读,应该讲究一定的方法、步骤:
(1)先扫视短文或每段的开首句,了解文章的题材和体裁。
(2)浏览5个问题,了解题目类型,针对不同题型,应用不同的阅读、解答方法。若问题与短文在同一页上,只须标出单个题项的关键词语,如“imply”、 “word”、“title”、“main idea”、“reason”、“how many”,等等。若问题与短文不在同一页上,也可迅速地将有关关键词语草写在短文一页,以便于参考。
(3)遵循先易后难的原则。先做相对容易的题目,建议采用查阅(scanning)方法。在查阅过程中,有关较难题目的一些信息也会暴露出来,查阅可为解答这类题目节约时间、提供线索。
语境对阅读理解也大有裨益。如果遇到缺乏语篇衔接的文体时,读者在阅读中就应设身处地,身临其境,要善于揣摩和合理想象相关人物的处境、心理和有关事件的发展演变过程,设法补上缺少的衔接,在上下文和情景中重新构造起有助于理解的语境。

具体阅读理解方法有快读、查读和细读三种,根据不同的目的,采用不同的方法。一般说来:

1. 快读(Skimming)。快读的目的是用浏览全言语的方法了解文章的大意和主题思想,并对文章的结构有个总的概念,快读时,应特别注意文章的开始段、结束段、文章中每段的段首句和结尾句以及篇章连接手段和行文中的信息词(signal word),因为它们往往是对文章内容的最精简概括,是左右文章大意的关键。

2.查读(scanning)。查读是指以问题位线索,带着问题,以寻找某一特定的信息而进行的阅读。

3. 细读(Reading for full understanding)。找到文章中的有关范围以后,即在引范围内逐句阅读,特别对关键词、句要仔细琢磨,以便对其有较深刻、较准确的理解和掌握。不仅要理解其字面意思,而且要通过推理、判断、弄清文章中“字里行间”潜在意思。在细读时,对没有学过的生词,可根据上下文或自己的背景知识等来推测其意义;对难以看懂的长句,可借助语法手段,对其加以分析,以达到透彻理解。
英语阅读理解技巧
新的高中英语教学大纲明确规定:"侧重提高阅读能力"。纵观近几年的高考英语试题,我们不难看出,阅读理解能力是高考考查的重点,自始至终占着主导地位,并且有逐年增加的趋势。可以毫不夸张地说,做好阅读理解题,是获得高考英语高分的关键!
阅读理解能力测试的主要要求是:
1. 读材料的主旨和大意,以及用以说明主旨和大意的事实和细节。
2. 既理解具体的事实,也理解抽象的概念。
3. 既理解字面的意思,也理解深层的含义,包括作者的态度,意图等。
4. 既理解某句,某段的含义,也理解全篇的逻辑关系,并据此进行推理和判断。
5. 既能根据所提供的信息去理解,也能结合中学生应有的常识去理解。根据这五项要求,我们可将阅读理解多项选择题归纳为以下几种题型:细节理解题,词句理解题,主题、主旨题,猜测词义题,推理判断题。下面作者结合平时教学中的经验体会,谈一谈做英语阅读理解题的技巧与策略。
一、 先看题干,带着问题读文章。
即先看试题,再读文章。阅读题干,首先要掌握问题的类型,分清是客观信息题还是主观判断题。客观信息题可以从文章中直接找到答案;而主观判断题考查的是对文章的感情基调,作者未加陈述的观点以及贯穿全文的中心主旨的理解等,这类题必须经过对作者的态度、意图以及对整篇文章进行深一层的推理等。其次,了解试题题干以及各个选项所包含的信息,然后有针对性地对文章进行扫读,对有关信息进行快速定位,再将相关信息进行整合、甄别、分析、对比,有根有据地排除干扰项,选出正确答案。此法加强了阅读的针对性,提高了做题的准确率,节省了宝贵的时间。特别适用于对图形表格类题材的理解。
二、 速读全文,了解大意知主题。
阅读的目的是获取信息。一个人的阅读能力的高低决定了他能否快速高效吸收有用信息。阅读能力一般指阅读速度和理解能力两个方面。阅读速度是阅读最基本的能力。没有一定的阅读速度就不能顺利地输入信息,更谈不上运用英语。近几年的高考阅读速度大约是每分钟40个词左右。考生必须在十分有限的时间内运用略读、扫读、跳读等技巧快速阅读,搜寻关键词、主题句,捕捉时空、顺序、情节、人物、观点,并且理清文章脉络,把握语篇实质。
抓主题句这是快速掌握文章大意的主要方法。主题句一般出现在文章的开头和结尾。用归纳法撰写的文章,都是表述细节的句子在前,概述性的句子居后。此时主题句就是文章的最后一句。通常用演绎法撰写的文章,大都遵循从一般到个别的写作程序,即从概述开始,随之辅以细说。这时,主题句就是文章的第一句。当然也有些文章没有主题句,需要读者自己去归纳。主题句往往对全文起提示、启迪、概括、归纳之作用,主旨大意题,归纳概括题,中心思想题往往直接可从主题句中找到答案。

不难看出,文章的第一句是主题句,后面的句子都围绕这个句子展开。
三、 详读细节,理顺思路与文章脉络。
文章绝不是互不相干的句子杂乱无章的堆砌。作者为文,有脉可循。如记叙文多以人物为中心,以时间或空间为线索,按事件的发生、发展、结局展开故事;论述体则包含论点、论据、结论三大要素,通过解释、举例来阐述观点。你可根据文章的特点,详读细节,以动词、时间、地点、事件、因果等为线索,找出关键词语,运用"画图列表法",勾画出一幅完整清晰的文章主题和细节的认知图。
四、 逻辑推理,做好深层理解题。
在实际阅读中,有时作者并未把意图说出来,阅读者要根据字面意思,通过语篇逻辑关系,研究细节的暗示,推敲作者的态度,理解文章的寓义。这就是通常所说的深层理解。深层理解主要包括归纳概括题(中心思想,加标题等)和推理判断题,是阅读理解中的难点。深层理解是一种创造性的思维活动。它必须忠实于原文;要以文章提供的事实和线索为依据,立足已知推断未知,不能凭空想象,随意揣测;它要求读者对文字的表面信息进行分析、挖掘和逻辑推理,不能就事论事,以偏概全。只有吃透文章的字面意思,推理才有前提和基础。
推理题在提问中常用的词有:infer, imply, suggest, indicate等。
例如高考题:
Annealing
Annealing is a way of making metal softer by heating it and then letting it cool very slowly. If metal is heated and then cooled very quickly, for example by dipping (浸) it in water, it will be very hard but also very brittle-that is, it will break easily. 1、 答案为A,此题属推断归纳题。文中第二句说如果把金属加热,然后迅速放到水里冷却,也就会变得非常硬,但也变得脆。hard 是工艺的主观目的。brittle是伴随的客观结果,故选A而不选D。B项明显错误;C项是手段不是目的,因此,都可排除。
2、 答案为D,此题属概括归纳题。timing 是时间的选择。本答案的依据是5和6两句,"The metal is heated,…length of time.","The longer…the softer it becomes."cool 的时间是可以控制的,时间越长越 soft,即硬度就越低。由此我们可得出结论:在退火过程中,金属的硬度是受到冷却的时间长短影响的。
3、 答案为C此题属推理判断题。文中提到"metal"。最后一句说退火工艺同样可用于象玻璃一类的其他材料。文中我们已知"annealing"就是先"heat"后"cool slowly"。由此推断C是正确的。
五、 猜词悟义,扫除阅读拦路虎。
猜词是应用英语的重要能力,也是高考中常用的题型。它不但需要准确无误地理解上下文,而且要有较大的泛读量,掌握或认识较多的课外词汇。我们要学会"顺藤摸瓜",通过构词,语法,定义,同位,对比,因果,常识,上下文等线索确定词义。
a. 定义法
如:Annealing is a way of making metal softer by heating it and then letting it cool very slowly.
句子给予annealing 以明确的定义,即"退火"。
It will be very hard but also very brittle------that is , it will break easily.
从后面的解释中我们可以了解到brittle 是"脆"的意思。
The herdsman , who looks after sheep,earns about 650yuan a year.
定语从句中 looks after sheep 就表明了 herdsman 的词义为"牧人"。
b 同位法
如:
They traveled a long way , at last got to a castle, a large building in old times.
同位语部分a large building in old times 给出了 castle 的确切词义,即"城堡"。
We are on the night shift----from midnight to 8 a.m.---this week.
两个破折号之间的短语很清楚地表明night shift 是"夜班"的意思。
c. 对比法
She is usually prompt for all her class, but today she arrived in the middle of her first class.
but 一词表转折,因此but 前后的意思正相反。后半句的意思是她今天"第一节上了一半才来",因此反向推理,可得出她平时一向"准时"的结论。
d. 构词法(前缀、后缀、复合、派生等)

possibility 是 possible 的同根名词, 据此可以判断定 possibility 意思是"可能性"。
e. 因果法
The lack of movement caused the muscles to weaken。Sometimes the weakness was permanent。So the player could never play the sport again.
从后面的结果"永远不能再运动"中,可以推测 permanent
我一般较学生硬着头皮读阅读100--300 篇,(相当于高考长度的)有时不一定要作后边的题,写写读书笔记摘要,摘抄好的句子短语,怎样提高阅读?
多读,精泛结合,
把握读的方法,使用浏览,查读,寻读,对不同文体采用不同的方法,就好比驾驶员开车要用不同的速度一样,
学会揣词,分析长句难句,抓住句子主干或关键词,善于找主题句,知道常见的问题怎么出:
问主题:main idea,topic sentence,mainly talk about,
问细节:5个“W”,
考推理:infer, draw a conclusion, conclude, according to... from...
问观点:idea, opinion, attitude, in... opinion,the author thinks...
语感对英语学习来说很重要,但仅凭语感是不能取得好成绩的,正确的语感是建立在扎实的基础上的。如果没有平时对语法的准确掌握和坚持不懈的大声朗诵,是无法建立好的语感的。虽然快高考了,但千万不要着急,从现在开始,语法知识点咱碰到一个掌握一个,重要的是学会划分句子结构和增加词汇量,遇到句子能读懂其意思。因为在考试中,完全是考语法的只有单选中的几个题,分值不高。
在平时学习中,也要大声朗诵许多文章来增加语感,好的语感会帮助自己做题更加得心应手 。
