A strange landmark is the Happy Rizzi House in Brunswick, Germany. Its bright and colorful cartoons and wonky(歪斜的) frame certainly stand out from the traditional buildings that surround the structure. Pop-artist James Rizzi, who built the house, intended the landmark to celebrate how children see the world and express themselves freely.

Looking at the contorted(歪曲的) building can feel like you have entered the house of mirrors or put on a pair of strange glasses. Inspired by Polish fairy tales, the structure is home to shops, restaurants and even a radio station.

Office Center 1000(Kaunas, Lithuania )

Novel and oversized cheques are one thing, but a massive banknote built into a ten-storey building is much more impressive and weird. Located in Lithuania's accession to Europe Union, the Office Center 1000 building in Kaunas is made up of 4500 glass panels that form the image of a now-missing 1000 Lithuanian Litas banknote.

进入查看:2022-2023学年英语周报九年级第4期答案及试题(初三第四期)

There’s a small brick house I visit from time to time. It’s not the house that is special, but rather the person who lives inside.

I met Miss C about 45 years ago when she was my sister’s kindergarten teacher. I remember looking into her classroom wishing I was her student. Miss C created a safe place where we could be whatever we wanted to be in that moment. My parents reassured (安抚) me I could start school when I was 4. Though, when I turned 4 in the spring, I couldn’t understand why I had to wait until September.  For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a teacher. When I graated, I couldn’t wait to invite Miss C to my classroom. She arrived one day, and I saw joy on my students’ faces singing the same songs I sang with her as a child. As a new teacher, I marveled at (对……感到惊奇) how she connected with children. For years, Miss C volunteered in my classroom.   Over the years we have shared in each other’s ups and downs. She asks me for updates about my family and friends, and she tells me about hers.   I am here for her now as the time to sell her house is near. I bring up boxes from her basement. We go through every painting a student has given her, every thank-you note a parent has written and her teaching aids (教具).

For many of us, there's nothing better than burying our head in a good book. Whether it's a story or a biography, it's good to read a book to switch off from the distinctions(分心)of everyday life.     李差歼庆清 .

It may seem obvious that reading is beneficial to our health. It can be ecational and broaden the mind. A good novel can make us happy,  or make us cry as we sympathize with characters. This power of reading books was first recognized a few years ago by the British charity Reading Agency, who published a list of books that doctors could offer to patients,  treating topics  from depression to dementia(痴呆)and to some pain.

Professor Philip Davis, author of a book called Reading for   lif e, studies people in reading groups and found that it's reading literature(only written work thought to have artistic value) that has the best effect. When reading something for pleasure,  he said ”...・the brain begins to work from different parts, and it gets excited, it gets pre — emotional.       ."
